could use some help i was planning on buying a yamaha 200e been planning the resto for weeks checking on parts, paint, you get the idea plan on picking it up monday, all is good and well its a done deal right? then the wrench in the gears, im leaving work friday morning and happen to glance at the for sale board on my way out the door some ad with the guy selling a wood stove and some other stuff then at the bottom theres a 85 honda 350x 700.00 bucks am paying 600.00 for the ytm took me awhile to stash away the 600.00 for the yamaha so another 100.00 is no big deal, so i call the guy he says it is in pretty good shape its white with blue seat told me it needs a new seat cover and theres something wrong with the decompresion lever or setup? have not went over to look at it, the ytm is in excellent condition runs great and everything, i got to make up my mind by monday talk about screwing my mind up, wish i never would have looked at the board, could really use some help on this, what would you guys do????? thanks kris:crazy:

So you haven't seen the 350X yet?I would go with the 200E.You can alway get a 350X later.

That for sure is a no brainer in my book. 350x would be the better choice.

Do you want to ride the 40 year old that gets boring after only a week, or do you want the 20 year old that excites you for 2 years and once you get bored can still spice her up with some aftermarkets http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/images/smilies/naughty.gif

350x !!!

The better choice is the 350X.The 200e's don't get enough respect.

Edog what are you on, the 200e is a utility trike. 200E's get respect for what they do but here we are talking about a good deal on a 200e and a kickass deal on a way better trike. And your still saying you would go for the 200e over the 350x?

Yamaha's are awesome, but they arent as reliable as Honda, you seem to have to replace everything once.

I am brand loyal to Honda but if someone asked me weather they should get a TRI-Z or an ATC200M. Even though I am brand loyal to Honda I would tell them to buy the Yamaha.

no i never went and seen the 350x i saw and rode the 200e its in mint condition runs great been sitting in his garage for years so long that the tires are all full of dry rot, but started right up and buzzed around his yard a few times the seat dosent even have any tears or anything, but i would love to have the 350x and i know if i go look at it i will probably haul it home with me, another thing im looking for a trike for fishing and putting around the trails by my house it seems like the 350x is a screamer better suited for aggresive riding? im leaning towards the 200e if i get the yamaha and theres anyone around the green bay wisconsin area i can pm the guys number if you want, still got a few days to make up my mind? i was looking at all the pics of the 350x's on this site and they look great! but like edog said i like yamaha have a couple yami quads. but those 350's look sweeeeet!!!!!!!!

I think a few people agree with me about Yamaha's.

My old 200s was the most reliable bike ive ever had. motor had never been touched. The rest of the bike was beat to hell.

Well.... I'd still get the 350X if it's in any decent shape. You rarely see a 350X sell for under $1000. You could easily get it... test it out... if it's too much trike for you, sell it for almost 300-400 profit and get any utility/sport utility trike you want. (250SX, 225DX, 250ES)

a 350X isnt nesacarily just used for aggresive riding, since it is a 4 stroke, you can putt around on it for a while, and when you need to out run the cops, or chase down a coon or something, you can always crack it open and have the throttle response you need.

The 350X is full suspension and disk brakes, the 200 is front suspension only and a drum and disc brake on rear.

In my personal experiance, riding my aunts old yamaha, almost any bump you hit you really felt, because it had no rear suspension, now, i didnt have a 350X, i had the smaller version, the 200X, and it handled great, took jumps well, and had a fair bit of get up and go, for what it was.

Anyways, the choice is up to you.

Edog,

You are steering this dude into wrong directions. You are bias to your own machine, yet anyone else here that has replied has ridden both machiens, or owns both machines, and all said the 350X, why? ITS THE BETTER BIKE.

This is not meant as a bash, i am simply writing that just because you have a decent looking yamaha trike, doesnt mean its king ***** of trikes.

The 350x all the way. Tons of torque and lots of speed, best of both worlds. My neighbor had one and we took it tight trail riding all the time. Awesome machines.

Then why dont you sell your 85 200X Edog? I mean, its nothing compared to your Yamaha, so why not sell it, and buy another Yamaha?

Every single Yamaha I have had, I have had to do motor work to it, heck, even a brand new banshee we had to do motor work, it was only out of the box for about 3 weeks. Any Honda I have had, starts good in the cold, they are a bullet proof motor and you cant kill them.

I think your the only bias one in this thread Edog, everyone else has had PERSONAL experiance with both machines, have you rode a 350X?? didnt think so!

Yeah.... he can't start one.... they are "hard starting" or something.

I have 2 350X's and enough parts to build a NOS 3rd one....
I have 1 YTM200ERN' and one sitiing in parts.......

I've had the Yamaha almost 2 years now, and have had the engine torn down 3 times in one day, and rode it a total of 5 feet. Currently sits with the subtranny off it, as something is STILL clacking in it....

GET the 350X already!

I know how you feel, spend 3 hours digging to the middle of the motor, "fixing" the problem, then getting it all together, riding it for seconds and have it screw up on you.

My opinion also is to get the 350X. It has nice suspension were the yamaha has near to none. The 350X is tons more fun and more reliable. I have never rode one, but from the people on this board and .org, the 350X looks like alot more fun than that yamaha. thats just my 2 cents.

I am just rooting for the uder dog.Man you guys are to serious.Course the 350X is better.I have rode one.I just feel sorry for the little Yamaha.Every trike needs love.

Then do it in a manner like this:

"I have a yamaha blah blah blah (whatever that blue thing is you have) and it has worked great for me, sure, its no 350X, but for my riding style (list your riding style here) it is perfect for me. However the 350X has the full suspension, disk brakes, manual clutch, blah blah blah", list goes on

Now that we have that cleared up, you better beef your front end up if you plan on puttin a 455 rocket motor in your little "G-body" car, I have seen those motors do some damage to little cars like that
