the caliper on my 86 trx250r the sliders were seized up. so i put a caliper from the front of a 1995 to present yz dirt dike on the rear. my friend did it to his custom 250x with a yz 400 in it also.

the one caliper bracket bolt hole is 3/16 of a inch off just egg the hole out a little. and you have to grind a little were the bracket dipps down between the bolt holes.

the bleeder is a little to low on the front gets air pocket. just hold the caliper on the rotor toward the back so the bleeder screw is the highest piont then bleed brakes then reattach to bracket.

i had this done in under 45 minutes. the caliper on ebay only costs me $30 from a 2002 yzf 426. i just got a whole front setup complete from a a 2003 yz125 (same caliper on every yz) for $45 for a extra one. some guys sell the yz mounting bracket seperate so watch out.

good 86 and newer atc and trx rear caliper go for $75 to $100 on ebay. this will not work on the 85 atc since they have the linkage setup.

Good deal, just so the piston diameter are about the same, should work great.

the piston diameter looks identical. this is a great way to fix your brakes and cheaper also. $30 is alot better them $75 o more for a original one. the yz calipers are on there on ebay all the time for that cheap.

the brakes never worked so good nice and stiff. the good sliders mite help some:lol: my rotor was bent in a dish shape. the piston would push the rotor over into the outer brake pad.

Why won't it work on an 85? Linkage?

I have an 85 and the caliper is hydraulic, not sure what linkage you are refering to.

the 85 has a different way of mounting the caliper. there is a long linkage bracket that bolts on further up the swingarm. just a different way of mounting

Ah, was thinking linkage to actuate the caliper. Thanks.
