Now why would I want a turbo for drags?

300ft drag race 4-6 seconds on most stock appearing machines?

turbo has 1-2 second turbo lag before it builds power..........the race is half over and your just getting your power. No way can you make up that much distance.

spoolin up? A turbo makes it's power under a load. You spool that thing up and as soon as the you dump the clutch that motor is going to bog down, thus letting the turbo slow down from lack of exhaust and a really small pipe. Now you've got to wait another second or two to get that thing pumping again. There's no substitute for cubic inches!!!!

My buddy has a Nitrous Xpress ATV kit. I know a NX dealer so we got a deal on it. He was gonna put it on his 450R then he decided to put it on his 250R instead but he hasn't done anything with it.

High rpms will not build turbo boost. It takes a load on the engine to build boost.

if your trike is a 200x or even a 350x or 250r,i strongly,strongly doubt you give any modded shee or quadzilla any run for the money in a drag race,and even if you do, put your bike up against one of those insane 2 strokes on the blacktop,and see who the flunk is!!

...the real drags are out west..........where the whoops start at 300 ft. and the finishline is a quarter mile down the sand.......

It just seems to me you enjoy being rude to everyone on 3ww. Just because you own some turbo charged trike that no one had ever heard of until you bought it. If its so great fast, good suspension wouldn't they have kept building it or even a quad version of it later on?

they are $3500.. where i drag in the 1/8 mile on blacktop, they still cant touch a shee, zilla, or even a 450r or yfz450, they only double hp at the most, and what a 400ex in 28 stock:lol: ,thats 56 hp! hell my zilla has that stock, and its 18 years old!

Mymint- I got a buddy with a Zilla down here in FL (not that we know anything about sand). He'd just love to meet you.....:naughty: I'll put it this way- If you do not put up a title, he won't consider racing you. 1/4 mile, blacktop, sand, 1/8 mile, whatever.

I don't consider "cracking jokes" as being "rude", even if the jokes are only funny to me.....if you feel like that, thats your burden, not mine.

the Nicholson IS fast, and those that have riden it can tell you it slides easy, having clued you in on that, I guess it's best application would be flat track.

as far as suspension, it was "state of the art" for it's time, but it's like riding a TT500 v.s the new 426's etc...

YOUR RIGHT!! the "Nick" wasn't made for mud and my bones would be "beat to hell" whether on my 350x or 110...I guess I should start looking for a nice utility trike with a big comfy seat......:lol: :lol:

Umm I have a question though.. One.. Can We see a pic of this "Nick" that you speak of, and 2, If your a guy, Why name your bike after another guy.. That would creep me out knowing I was riding a "Nick".. A betty, or lisa would be much better..

If I remember right you met that guy at some old abandoned afb. I remeber a post aobut that long long ago.

Anytime someone refers to me as a dope smoker it just pisses me off. I lived in a small town right after vo-tech and because I had long hair everyone though I was a doper. It just pissed me off everytiem one of them aholes came into my shop.

Its all about exhaust pressure building intake pressure. Rev your quad / trike and feel the exhaust pressure increase, that's all it takes.

Should be able to do this perfect with a small motor (tinny turbo) no problem, no lag. Ya just gotta know what you are doing. ;)

I work on diesel turbo charged engines for a living. Maybe gas turbos are different but I seriously doubt it. I diesel motor will not build good boost until its under load. The exhaust psi on a diesel also increases to the touch when reved up but it still doesn't build enough boost to create the power it was designed to.

I agree with smokin...An installed boost guage on a lighty duty diesel like my 5.9 will read 0psi or 5psi AT MOST while standing still and having the engine at the redline. Put it into gear and put a load on the engine and watch it climb to about 40.

I work on diesel turbo charged engines for a living.
Diesel truck turbos are a whole different game. They're designed for "torque" not "HP". They are generaly HUGE in size and need way more time to spool up. 4 banger turbos (and smaller like the raptor) spool up at relitively low RPMs. I emailed the manufacturer of this quad setup and it fully spools at 3500rpms. I can keep that motor reved there easily at launch. He said there is no noticible lag when run properly. :beer :naughty:

I have a Honda CX500 Turbo that has factory computerized fuel injection, and a small turbo. It has absolutely no guts even when the clutch is dumped from redline. It takes a load on the motor to keep the turbo spooled. This bike makes 75 rwhp and was made in 1982. They may have come up with some sort of way to create boost with no load, but that is the common problem with turbo charged aplications. No boost without load, i.e. Turbo lag.

All I can say is,,ALL of you need to research turbos because 3/4 of what is being said about turbo spooling and lag,and being under a load to work.Well,just go research them,cause most of this thread from what I am reading, demeaners no knowledge of turbos other than opinions on how WE think they work. Im not going to fulfil anyones thoughts by ENLIGHTENING anyone. I just went from reading a good funny started individual Post and as usual seen it run into the ground. Hence why I usually never post even though I am here quite a bit reading and not logged in. I just had to post cause it drives me nuts how things get so lead off track by someones post. If you want the lagistics to what makes a turbo cause lag,or why a turbo WILL or WONT free spool WITH or WITHOUT LOAD.Do what I did.Research it. And by no means am I trying to be a no it all or a smart A**. I have been around this sight since pretty much the beginning. ANd I used to be highly active here,BUT why no more?? Just because of this kinda of Forum post responses. I go from reading a good started post to a parade of butchers lying in wait for a new post so they can cut it up. MERRY Xmas!! :beer 200xcellent.
