225 Question

Does anyone know if a 250 timberwolf motor will fit in the YTM225 chassis? It looks like they are very similar.

I don't know if the whole motor will fit but I am almost possitive that the top end will fit.

No, it will not with out a lot of modifications. Yes I know from experiance. I have been looking for a bigger and more modern power plant for a YTM and I have tried several. The Timber wolf has a much larger bottom end and will not bolt into anything.

Huh?? You talking about the "old school" Timberwolf or a newer one? The neighbor kid fried the tranny in his 1988 or 89 TW 250 and they used one of my 225DX lower ends for the clutches and tranny in it. Even had the same reverse mechanism! The thing that was wierd though, was that it didn't have a recoil starter backup!

Oh... and the funny thing is, it says its a 250, but on the jug it's < 10cc bigger if that than the 225DX jug! (223CC versus 229cc if I recall??)

I am not sure on the year. However, the one I tried had High and low with reverse. That larger bottom end was not even close.
