I bought a new 2005 yamaha kodiak 400. This thing is pretty fun in the snow. The first thing i did to it was put new mudlite tires on it. The stock ones were pretty useless. Here are some pics.

Cool, I'd love to get something like that to play on. I'd have a plow mounted to it already tho, lol.

My Uncle has an '04 Kodiak 450 and the stock tires on that take it anywhere. They are really great machines and yours with the mudlites looks like a monster

Hope your happy with it, first thing i would do is get a winch for it, you WILL need it, and when you get it make sure all the cables and connections are soddrd and not criped, ( i have put hundreds of thease things togther) nother thing watch the vent tube that comes up the back of the quad undr neth the rear tail light, its a vent for the belt, and the clamps they put on the small end SUCK and are normally loose and fall off, causin alot of crap and water to get in, i cant remember if it was the 400 or the 350 with the rear drums, but if it has them Keep a close eye on them and clean them ALOT...., now as far as reliability, there pretty decent, just dont sink them or you are screwed hahah.

This has rear Hydraulic Disc brakes, same with the front. How will this need a winch more than any other machine??? I put new mudlites on it and they seem to grab pretty good. Dont even need to put it in 4wd in some deep ass snow.

i think what he means is if you ever stick it, it isnt like the z, you will need a truck to get it unstuck. a tri-z, you can pick it up

Yea i have personal experiance with this..they are NOT fun to unstick LOL..., nother thing i just rememberd, When in deep snow or mud (like 3ft+) forget about using reverse to get unstuck, the CDI box on them has the Rev limiter set in reverse reaaaly low, so it wont hardly turn the tires backwards...lol

Tried that! Totals better! better yet a WARN works better than both. Everyone said when I bought my 4x4 that I did'nt need a winch, well I've used it 4 times already.

My uncle runs one on the front and back of his 450 kodiak, but we have some KNARLY trails here in the mountians...
