Does anyone know if a TRX 250 motor out of a quad would bolt into an 1986 200x frame with minimal modifications?

Its shaft drive, so it sounds like a nightmare.

The TRX250 is shaft drive. Its a 2WD utility, like a quad version of the ATC250SX. Maybe he means the TRX250X.

Thats something I always thought would make the ultimate X....an 86/87 frame with a TRX250X engine in it. BUT...unfortunently....its gonna take even more welding than planning to get that engine in the frame.

Oh well :( The whole reason I brought it up is because I saw this on Ebay and it seemed like a good deal.

The reserve is over $75..........but for 2 engines, its a nice deal if the reserve is under $125 I think.

If I was you I would go ahead and try it, as those motors do look cheap enough right now along with a reserve on it. If it doesnt fit just relist it on ebay and get your money back or find another trike frame and start from there, or get some measurements from someone on the board with a 86 200x and get the measurements from the 250X motor and go from there. Anythings possible

It WILL bolt into a 350X chassis with very little mods. Try that. You may be able to find a rolling chassis for fairly cheap. Wait, I have one......$600 and it is yours.

I have a complete 86 200X that I am doing the top end on and another for parts so I figured I would see what I could boog together. Also, I thought it would be cool to have reverse.

Forget the 200x! Ride the ol ladie's scrambler, man!!! heh
I am saving my 87 200X Frame (same as 86...with like 2 minor differances) for some sort of amazing project this summer (suspension and engine....2 things every year 200X needs upgraded!!). Its either going to be a 250X/300EX powered machine...or my other choice: 2 stroke :-D

200xman I have the done some of the measurements for this conversion....The best way to tell is to actually is, get the engine. IT is very very close from what I can tell and based on compareing the 350x frame to that of an 86 200x. The 200x is is very skinny compared to the 350x I also have picts of this however until I am able to get my hands ona 250x engine I cannot do this further. I dont know 250x measurements.
