I done it this afternoon.
I bought a 2005 Troy Lee Predator. I am having the orange plastic removed and red installed they are also changing over the red shock springs and red hubs. They are doing that for the cost of labor only. I have a new intake system on order also. Other then that it is a stock predator.
I went with the predator because of the savings over the Honda, its about $2,200 cheaper. I also decided with no more then I race (4-7 times per year) it wasn't worth it for the full on race quad. Predator will do everything I want to do. The predator is no slouch and will compete with any of the new quads in the drags. The predator is the only quad I would have considered a few months ago, so I just decided to get it.
We have a wrestling tournament tomarrow. Maybe I can get it tomarrow afternoon but probably Monday.

Congrats, they are sick bikes. Have a friend that races one and he has gotten some huge air on the track.
PICS! As soon as you get it of course.

Your gonna love it! I know i love mine. I have an 05 Limited Edition. The only down side to it is to change the spark plug you have to take off the gas tank to get to it. Other than that it is an all around good bike.

I have quite a bit of seat time on predators. One of my ridign budy's has one. His is also a 05 TLE but he had a 03 before. I like the power and handling of the predator just wish they wieghed about 40 lbs less.

I rode ATC 250's predator in PA and I loved the handleing. It felt like I was riding a more comfortable YFZ. Any plans for future mods smokinwrench?

I have defending them for quite some time now. Friend of mine has had a predator since they came out, I knew they were fast and handled good.
I have owned a 500 scrambler for a long time and it is a kick *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* quad.

Here are a few pictures of it right after I got it home. It is damn fast I already wasted acoupel banshees in the drags at our local sand pit. The faster banshee had t-5's and kn filters.

I'm not sure at this point, nerfs are first. I have a new intake on order. I would like a bills pipe but the wife is watching my atv spending right now so it might have to wait for a little while. If I find a pure polaris for cheap I would buy it.

they are sick quads, i like the fit and finish on them except the bare part of the tank(just my opinion)...me and my friend put together the predator motor for my college's baja1000 team. it sucked cause we lost the 05' book w/ reverse so we had to assemble the tranny w/ the 04' manual w/out reverse...what fun that was, lol....we got it together with a falicon crank assembly and hardened gears.....i hope to see us in the local paper ;-) have fun with that beast.....

That is one mean looking machine. I think thats the quad I would get if I was going to buy a new one. Nice choice.

So you had the gears swapped out too?

No, it has the close ratio Troy Lee trans. The gap between 4th and 5th is to big . I ride in a dried up sandy river bottom all the time. It very high speed riding. I have noticed I have got to be banging the rev limiter to get enough rpm's when I shift so it won't lug when I shift to 5th in soem nasty terrain. I figure a pipe and filter will give me enough power to take care of that problem.
The bike is great it handles near perfect and about (never have enough power) all the power I need. It is kinda tall compared to my 400ex. Everything about it is better then what my 400ex was, power, suspension, handling.

the close ratio Troy Lee trans.
Close-ratio should be in quotes, because the TLD trans is only closer in 1st through 3rd gear. Why you would need that, I have no clue, unless you ride only switchback trails and thats it.

A stage 2 hotcam would also take care of that.

We have got to have the best Polaris dealer there is. They just charged me the labor costs to have it swapped. Heck when they get the Outlaw in they are gonna let us take it for an afternoon to ride on the river and see how it performs against a regular predator.
It has a pair of cams. From what I have read cams don't seem to help them that much.
""""""Close-ratio should be in quotes"""""""
Damn just what I wanted was a school lesson.
