:Bounce I have been doing some research lately on a Eric Gorr 310 Big Bore kit for my 98 KX250. Everyone is claiming 60 horses and 38ft lbs of torque. And claims that the power is very brutal. Supposedly a 450r killer. Anyway I think I will be sending my motor off to him this week. Just curious if any of you guys have ever rode one of these or heard anything about Eric Gorr racing. From what I have seen they have nothing but good things to say. I am thinking this may take care of my power needs and that pesky YFZ450 I will soon be racing. This will be going on my 86 Tecate. Let me know what you think.

Thats crazy! I have a feeling your Tecate with the 98 KX lump as is would humilitate a new 450.

Moved to the Open Forum. Original post isn't really trike related so I guess it goes here?

Not trike related this is the motor that is in my 86 Tecate. How is that not trike related? I was asking if anyone has heard anything good or bad about Eric Gorr Racing.

I think you should silence it down so it's fairly stock looking and quiet sounding, then just destroy some 450+cc machines. I've never heard anything bad about Gorr, you do have to wait a bit to get your work done because of how many people send him their stuff but nothing bad about the results. My dad's sending his KDX stuff in for some port work some time soon, and there's been talk of doing a big bore in that, and knowing my dad's power mongering ways, it'll probably happen.

Oops, didn't see it was going in your KXT. I seen a couple lines talking about dirtbikes and quads and figured it wasn't trike related. My bad.

No problem, was just wanting some input from guys and knew it would get more views here.

yah its incredable the numbers poppin out of 310's... right now esr did a dyno run on a 85 ATC250R with a 310 cylinder. trx 9 port, the ATC5 pipe, stock carb and k/n air filter with lid off.. through out 51 RWHP.... now thats a mild port job (basically a all around port) the pipe is nice but jsut about a step up from a FMF, and STOCK CARB!! yah 310's are bitchin

This is going on your trike?

Your going to get the 310 pipe to fit your trike? A poor mod job to a pipe can really affect the power of a engine, you could unengineer all the power Gorr engineered into that kit just trying to get the pipe to fit the bike.

The power delivery of a 310 kit engineered for a bike is going to work on a trike?

"60 horses and 38ft lbs of torque" the torque numbers sounds low, HP numbers sell engines, torque is what moves mass.

Do you mind telling how much the 310 kit and labor cost?

But, more importantly what is needed to be done to properly install a 1998 KX250 motor in a KXT250 frame?

Are you going to post any pics?

I need a front brake line too. Anybody know of a motorcyle brake line that fits?

Do a search nd4speed, 3wheelsforever? did the motor swap and it was pretty straightfoward.

dude, get mid to top end porting, its waaay more fun...plus dont listen to these guys about these pipes and stuff, you can easily rotate the cones of the pipe and you can extend the headpipe a little without hurting the pipes effect....if you physically change the angles and length of the actual expansion chamber you will affect the effect of the pipe. trust me, ive done it. and if you are going to do this swap, do it RIGHT, take your sweet time, and line up the engine sprocket with the axle sprocket PERFECTLY, no joke, and make sure that the height of the engine sprocket is correct with the swingarm, try to keep it as close to the exact location of the original motor. if you have to weld something to the frame, prep the frame and have someone that can weld really good weld it, because with this motor the vibration will be quite a bit more than the original. good luck man, if you need any guidance i am a veteran of motor swaps and chassis building....

Hrc, the motor is already in the Tecate frame. He bought it from the guy that originally did the swap.

if your tecate wont beat a 450r stock there is something wrong with it. we got a 250r smokin 450 r's and yfz's very little done to it...

No I didn't I am doing the swaop myself and I will be doing a writeup on how-to install the motor. Also I have been talking with Eric Gorr and I think I am now gonna go with the 285 kit instead. He said on take off the 285 will smoke the 310 and will only have about 2 hp less. Basically I am building this bike because my original tecate engine needs a waterpump cover bottom end rebuilt and is leaking coolant from a few different gaskets. And parts are nearly impossible to find. I want a newer motor with more parts availability and more power. Also I have lots of friends with the new 450r's and the YZF450. And all they tend to do is talk about what an old piece of *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* I ride. Simply because it has 3 wheels. So soon it will be fastest production quad verses fastest production trike. And we will see who's whining about what then.
