Yes this would be nice to know for me too because I have a YTM200 and what's the difference between the two shocks? Are one better than the other?

Which one is that Yamaha 200e?? I have a Parts Yamaha 200 that is chain drive... I got it hoping the forks would interchange, and I could put these on my 225dx. I can't tell you they wont interchange because I didn't try it. But, I know that they are different than the 225dx front forks. The 225dx forks are a little longer than the Yamaha 200 chain drive front forks. That is all that I am sure of. I'm not sure if they will actually work or not. I picked up a pair of good used dx forks for mine Tuesday and put them on my machine last night. I hope this helps.

The Yamaha 200e is like the chain drive but with electric start and shaft drive.

Hey fox, I was looking in the specs for shocks in my book, and it looks like 225DX shocks are about 4 inches longer. As for the transfer I think that's something we'll have to find out on our own. I don't think my front brake cable could stretch that extra 4 inches though.

The fork diameter in my 225DR was different from the 225DX parts rig I have... they may fit the tripple tree or they may be too small

Now that's interesting, you would think it would be the same the the DX and DR.

Hey SSJ,
I think you are right about the front brake cable stretching.
I had to replace mine last year (it was kinked and ceased after my pops ran into a tree with it) and I found that there's JUST enough room to route it properly

You could probably retro-fit another cable on it though with a little work :-D

Dude you have a YTM200EK too? How bout that! I own one too! Cool thing about mine, It was free! given to me in perfect running condition...ran good until I blew the motor...still haven't diagnosed the problem so I'm rebuilding it right now.

Mine is the '83 200EK too. I got mine as a parts bike (bad first gear) for free. All I had to do was change over the drive shaft for a guy who snapped his. I have yet to figure out how he snapped the shaft. Now it is time to part it out.

I got mine for free aswell. Stolen recovery salvaged out of an impound. This poor thing had been sitting outside forever and was driving around on flat bald tires.

No keys for the ignition so i just put a 2 way switch relay for the starter!

It ran like a champ from day one (7 years ago)

Actually, the previous owner extended the rear mudflaps which worked out really well.

I've got electrical issues with her now though. I think there's a short somewhere. Good thing for the decompression switch...thats all i have to say!

Either of you folks had issues/luck diagnosing electrical on this Yamma-beast?

Oh, one more thing. I thought i was alone in this world (with regards to my trike) It's nice to know i've got family! :-D

Nope I've had no problems with electrical, except my brother crossing up jumper cables to start it and best I can figure is the solenoid fried. It's funny though how all three of us got ours for free!
Best thing I can tell ya about the electrical is take off the seat&cover, and gas tank, start at one end of the harness and follow every inch of it and check it for cracks/melted spots...should be able to find your short that way.

Thanks for the advice man. That is the ONLY thing i didn't do last year. I had the rectumfier tested and all the rest of the stuff under the seat but i never pulled the gas tank off (lazy i guess)

She runs like a dream but the headlight is dim and the battery won't charge. Once the snow is gone, i'll start workin on her again.
