85 250r Axle

Hi,

Yesterday I was riding and noticed my axle was a little loose. How do you tighen it? Thanks all

To start with, the lock nut and main axle nut have reverse threads, so, loosen the small lock nut and with the parking brake on or with the rear brake pedal pressed, tighten the main nut with a large crescent or monkey wrench. You might want to use a breaker bar for more leverage. After it's tight, tighten the lock nut down the same way. If it keeps working loose, use Locktite on both nuts.

But Beware!! that also may mean the bearings are going away. If you never checked'em you better go thru the effort and make sure the bearings are still good and repack. I ended buying a new RAD carrier cause there was nothing but garbage in the carrier once I tightened down the axle and ran it a little.
