After alot of thought I finally got going on this project for my oldest boy. He is 11 & cant wait to get a ride on this shrunk up R. After lots of frame mods I finally have it rolling. I have to move the tank back so it can turn sharper, that means more frame modification. Should be fun though when it's done.:w00t:

Wow that 250r tank and shrouds swallows up that poor little trike! haha Maybe a short track tank and shrouds would do better since the tank is much smaller. But it looks great.

That is sweet. Man a Short Track setup sounds like that might be nice looking and a better fit. Man Your son is gonna think hes the Coolest kid around on that Ride. He gonna know he has a cool Father thats for sure.:beer
Definatly keep us updated on this project. Is that the 80cc Motor in the Frame? It looks like the Forks Dont want to Turn much at all. Are there any Smaller Dirtbike Tanks that might fit and look good allso? In Case a Short track setup isnt a good setup.
The Fun Factor goes way up on that compared to a Honda 110 or whatever a young rider has.
Didnt Tiger make a Small MX Trike?

Cool project for sure, I bet that will be tons of fun for the youngun. What would be cool, so that it looked more proportional, is to get a 10" front rim setup, and run a 21" front tire on it, I will try to find a good pic of my flattracker that I did that too, it weighs alot less, and woudln't look so bulky, then you might think about running some 16" back tires or something or some 18's is the biggest I'd run, what size are the rear tires now?

I like waterpumper's idea. The smaller front would let you raise the clamps up too.
What swingarm is that?

What about installing a Tri Z throttle housing and then screwing the throttle limiter screw in a bit.
Still neat project....looks great!

Looks sweet! You going to be at trike fest? If so you are going to have to bring it!! I was working on some plans for building a mini-tecate but it looks like you beat me to it. Need to get some pics with it bu your 250r so we can see it next to a full size to get the idea of its real size.

Thanks for the compliments & ideas you guys. I will be putting a 10" front tire on as soon as I can get one. The rear tires are 16" now. The short track tank sounds sweet, does anyone have one for sale? I sure would like to see a picture of one installed. The motor is from a "02" CR-80 & the frame is a 86-R. I shortened the wheel base up alot. It is about an inch or two shorter than the CR Wheel base. The swinger is my old broken one from my 89 TRX. It took quite alot of shimming & fabricating to make it fit around the major offset of the CR motor. I think the aluminum swinger should help ballance it better. I just got inside after changing the angle & height of the steering stem. As someone said it did'nt turn sharp enough. I moved the tank back as far as I could, but moving the steering stem up was the ticket. It lowered the front ride height & kept the rake the same as my 85-R. I will keep you guys updated on my progress. I can't wait for the first test ride. As for the throttle screw, this kid rides the wheels off the Cr-80 & learned how to ride on a Tri zinger. I cant wait to see him ride it. We will be at Trikefest this year for sure, I already have the week off. I have to try to catch that wicked 500-R that billy has on the drag strip:beer :w00t:

That seriously reminded me of the famous KX 60 trike I saw somewhere. :D I bet your kid's gonna rag on that thing hardcore, and since it's got the 80 in there, it's gonna be a screamer! :) Gotta love it.
250R training bike LOL.
I think we need detaild mesurments and specs to make our own!..........;;) ;) :w00t:

Got a little more done today. It's going pretty smooth, I can't believe it. I modded the kick start lever today, also put the silencer on & the handle bars & plastic. All I have left is brakes & a bunch of little stuff. My trike sucks, I will build you one if you want. The specs are, cut, weld, cut more, weld more, get mad, cuss alot, weld & cut  :D

Hey Jason, are those 85 R forks? If so you can move the small spring internally and lower the forks in the tubes. You'd have the same ride height without the forks sticking way up in the triples.
Looking cool! I agree the 10" front wheel with short tire will make the bike.

Jason that thing is awsome! One lucky kid you have there! Maybe when he gets a little older you can put a 125 engine in it!!! Just a though, anyway I don't think you need to put a short track tank on that. If you keep the stock 2.5gal tank think how long the thing will go on one tank of gas!!!! Just being an 80cc and all..... Anway nice job, keep us updated!
