Ok, so I am rebuilding an 81 atc185s. The rear axle/brake assembly is shot and must be replaced. I also have an 84 atc200m. The axle/brake assembly from it is still in good condition. Im wondering if I can take the complete axle/brake assembly including the brake holder and put them on the 185s. This would save me a lot of time and money. Thanks!

All the diagrams look like this will bolt up to the frame correctly, but my main concern now has to do with the brakes. Will everything work correctly?

I don't think the axle housing will bolt up to the 185s. But if you already have a 200m rear end you can try.

updating old thread. yes you can you just have to use the hole carrier. breaks work, cables hook up, sprocket lines up, you cant use the chain guards sides or bottoms. if you keep the 22 inch tires you will want to buy a 13 tooth front sprocket and a 520x86 o-ring chain. you also get two more inches of axle length.

i just did this to an 82 and it was pretty straight foward. the doner was an 84. cleaned up the axle, put new o-rings and shoes on and bolted it right up. my motor has a 200x 10.25-1 piston, stock 200x cam, carb., and exhaulst. you get wheelies in 1st and 2nd whether you want it or not. fun!
