Me and my luck has stumbled across another 87 Trike. First was my BigRed. Now a 87 250SX that is in great shape other than the rear fenders. I mean great shape. And its a steal $$$ wise. Obviously I should buy it, but im wondering how many people have seen around. I have only seen 1 maybe 2. I have to figure out where to get the money fast. Before the guy decides not to sell it.

They are out there... basically the same as the 86 parts wise.... just different plastic and sticker colors...

Get it while you can !!!!!.. i would just as quickly get an 86 if the condition and price was right.. but if you can get this combo in an 87.. jump on it !

Im definately going to get it. Unless he changes his mind. I dont think he will based on the way he talked. I know I havent seen many 86s at all. 87s, Im not sure if I have ever seen one. I dont even know if a board member has one. 87 BigReds are fairly common. 87 200X's are a little more rare. I have seen about 6 of those. The SXs, im not sure if I have ever seen one. Maybe one on ebay that went for 2K. Thats it. I havent seen any others.

well they are rarer than the '85 and '86 SXs  Seems like there are one or two in the PA classifieds about every month compared to the 1 or 2 '85-'86 SXs every week.

Well since you arent too far from me, I tell you what. I will go and pay for it for you...ok And then I will load it up for you......but I might miss your house on the way back to TN ROFL:lol:

Seriously though, I have seen tons being called an 87 model but havent seen one in person. I think I do like the headlight being red with the white plastic. I might have to change my 86 like that.

I think I saw one zip by me while I was on a run last spring but I haven't seen it since. Was that the only year that had the white headlight?

Well the 86SX came with a white headlight system. The 87 came with the white or red headlight. In some ads they had it as red. Maybe it the early models were different from later.

I managed to grab an 87 with no plastic and bent forks for 175$. Truth be told, an 87 is merely the last available model with a great cold starting carb and a great swinger and brake setup. Both of those parts are the same in 1986 so truly an 86 is an 87. The other changes - plastic - are almost always complete junk by now so there isn't much of a difference. I'd buy an 86 or an 87 but the 87's sure are nice to find!!

I might do that Scott. I have a job up in Memphis @ St Judes Hospital that I go to monthly. I could easily drag it up there. :beer

If it is in good shape I'd go for it ASAP. My neighbor has had a 87 model for about 15 years. He is the second owner. He approached me a couple weeks ago and asked if I was interested in it. The only downfall is that its pretty beat. Dented and rusted tank, broken fenders, flat tires, but it does run.

How much is the guy asking? What needs fixing? What's been changed? Original tires?

I have a 87 in storage for the winter. I bought it a couple years ago and it has the white headlight. I love it because it is the last of the best! Starts, Runs, Rides PERFECT!! I don't have any good pics by itself but when the snow melts I think I need to get some taken.
