200X: part out OR finish the job

Well, before I've even had a chance to ride the darn thing, I might have to stop what I'm doing on my 1983 200X restoration. I might be moving from Los Angeles to New York City for work. Keeping it in NYC is obviously not a very viable option (owning a vehicle and storage in NYC is cost prohibitive), so my options look like this:

1) finish the restoration and find a place to store it near a NY State riding area. (any recommendations would be appreciated, as I would seriously like to keep the trike). This way, I'd be able to escape the concrete jungle from time to time and still enjoy the trike.

2) finish the restoration and sell it as a full bike. Problem here is, I still have to put about $200 or so into it for the restoration to be mostly complete. At this point, I'm in it for more than I think I'd be able to sell a nicely restored 200X (new powder coat on swing arm, frame; newly rebuilt rear shock, all new cables, new OHTSU tires, new rear fender & NOS OEM Honda seat, rebuilt carb, lightly used engine). Also, the frame is from an '84 (the rest of the bike is '83 parts) and I have rear 350X rims (wanted the 9" rims), so I know in terms of this being a perfect 'numbers matching' restoration (car term there--not sure if used for trikes as well), it is not which might decrease it's value.

3) stop what I'm doing and just sell the parts off, including the new fender, seat, tires, etc....

Honestly, I'd love to do option #1, but I'm not sure about storage near any riding facilities. I know they have storage at places out here--like Glamis, etc., but I'm not sure about elsewhere. I'm so close to finishing this restoration, that's it's killing me to stop. But, at the moment, when I look at it, it seems like the most logical thing to do unless I'm proven otherwise.

Is there any MAJOR work that needs done? I've been thinking about buying a 200X to fix up for my senior project (they make us do some hands-on projects before we can graduate high school), and I love the idea. But if this X is in the right condition where it will look much better once I fix it up (or just leave the fenders and stuff of when I take the "before" pics.. lol!, I would be glad to take it off your hands, store it, finish the work you want done, and then have you just pay me whatever it took to finish it plus maybe an extra $50 or something for storing it.
I'd have to run this past my parents and think about it, but we both make out. I get to do my senior project, and you get to keep the bike AND get the restoration finished. I would basically be keeping the bike for you and finishing it until you could take it back. I would not buy it from you, it would still be yours.. I would just be storing it and you repaying me for my expenses while finishing it.

Well, aside from powdercoating the brake parts, foot pegs, and a few other small parts, it will look near mint. I forgot to list the new bolt kit. I'd say it will look 90% new. The minor stuff are just things I was going to get eventually, but didn't need to be completed at the moment.

I would try to keep it but the riding in NY is very limited and far from the city. I think you would be sorry you sold it after doing all the work to it. Whetever you decide please don't part it out. IMO

There's enough of us on here from NY that should be able to store it for you,myself, 350xny(Bruce)and some others bruce an I are 6 hours from the what I call shitty city...lol...ask around. Ken.

Well, I don't think I'd feel right taking up space at someone's house like that. I was thinking more of a rental unit and I can come and pick it up at and take it to go riding. But, it seems like there aren't alot of places to ride in NY? Is this true? I guess there's obviously places out of state that are close as well--PA, MA, etc.

I'm still not sure what to do. I guess the thing with "parting it out" is, it is apart and would be easy to sell that way. It was also created (or should I say, will be created) from an '83 I got in terrible shape and OEM/parts off eBay.

I got the engine off of eBay. It is from a very low milege running 200X. I paid about $350 for it, I think.

I have another 200X engine, that runs but slightly smokes. Sadly it was painted red at one point. If you're interested in that.

That's not a bad idea. I think I'd have to find one near a good riding area and work it that way. Those 'you store it' places in NYC are $150 a month if you want one big enough to fit a trike. haha.

Well where I live in N.E.P.A its about 2 hours or so from NYC. The city I live outside of has one of the largest atv parks in the east (Paragon adventure park). There are a few more scattered throughout the area. But there is good riding not too far from there. And I know there are a ton of those store it places in the immediate area. Just a thought. ;)
