View Full Version : Best/Strongest Carb cleaner?
Hey all,
Im lookin for the most potent Carb cleaner, like the kind you let the carb sit in overnight to eat all the Varnish out...this carb is so bad its like tree sap, you cant even see the hole in the main jet....

I have had projects like that before. Most part store chains sell gallon cans made for soaking carbs in. They are around $15 and work reasonably well. If you finish cleaning with cans of carb cleaner, watch the rubber seals on some bowls. They can eat em up. I also use a very small strand of wire from a heavy wire brush and carefully poke thru the main jet and then use the can of carb cleaned to flush it. My 2 cents, Gary

I dont think it matters much which brand you use since they all have pretty much the same stuff and if you will be leaving it overnight, then they all have the same active ingredient: Time. Just be sure to remove any rubber parts or it will eat these too I think.

I've used the Gunk brand dip and the parts came out all nice and clean.

Yea, I have some that came in a gallon can. It has a little basket you put the carb parts on and close the lid. Oh, and make sure you remove ALL gaskets from the carb. I was cleaning the carb on a guys 1979 puch moped and forgot to take off the float bowl gasket. It made it about twice as big!! Cost 23 bucks out of my pocket!!
