Hi
I,ve just split the cases on the project 85R because there was a lot of JB weld around the area of the shift shaft , well I got them apart and chiselled off all the crap and the damaged piece just fell out  Do you think this is worth getting repaired , I can get it TIG welded and the I can machine the bore back round but I have nothing to work from now as the whole piece is F@@@ed!!!
Cheers

I say buy a used one off ebay, theres tons o them and there cheap. that looks like its not worth mesin around with.

the only problem is that side of the case is kind of hard to find because of the chain throwing problem on these trikes but that one to me is beyond repair im sure you could find one on ebay for cheep that the chain had been thrown on and done some damage that you could fix way easier then that one. good luck with what you do.

Fix it if you can. Finding a nice left side case on ebay for a watercooled 250R is pretty rare and usually spendy. Just do lots and lots and lots and lots of cleaning before you take it to be welded.

Thats pretty bad! I would just bite the bullet and buy a new case. A new left side runs a little over 200 if you shop around.

Yeah the time that you will take to tig weld it back together and make it look pretty will be about the same time and money that you will have in a new case that is just as strong. Go for the new case.

WOW, thats very badly cracked. Is that from the chain coming off?
Seems like the R's are prone to this....... Stacey , when you get a replacement run a case saver!!! :D

Yeah I will run a case saver and a chain guard , I think that a bunch of numbnuts have used and abused this R and just done a series of botch jobs to get it running .. theres loads of stripped threads that I,m going to have to helicoil ,it seems every nut and bolt I unscrew I find something else wrong !!
Never mind it,ll be worth it :w00t:
