A friend just got a 99 Grizzly 4x4. The carb leaks like crazy out the float overflow when the quad is running and even more when it's turned off. I tore into it and attempted to adjust the float. The float and seat look great, the inside off the carb was very clean. I adjusted as well as I could for the needle to seat, but the metal tang did not allow for much adjustment. I put it back together and he made a circle in the yard. No leaks. Great. Then he loaded it on the trailer to take it home, and it leaked like it did before. No difference:wondering . He's ridden it since for a day, and it still leaks as before. Well he has called 2 shops and they say "O your needle seat is bad, bring it in and we'll fix it for $100." Has anyone else ran into this problem? Is the needle seat replaceable on the griz carbs?

Thanks

If the needle has the rubber tip there is no seat, it probably does need to be replaced.

yeah, you're right, it was rubber.

you should probably replace the needle, but also make sure the float height is correct as it will make a difference

I think he's gonna take to a shop and have them do it. The float height is difficult to adjust due to the location of the needle on the tang, I adjusted it so the needle will seat, but it still leaks. Your right about the needle.
