Joe-
"This is the police-Put down the tools and step away from the vehicle"
Put the trike away---cover it up -----wipe off the tools and put them away-go in the house, eat your dinner- finish your homework---and THEN--and only then---Fire up your PC and go here----http://science.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm
Stop pounding your head on the concrete---Ive been a Mechanic for 22 years--and you cant fix a damn thing until you know what it is supposed to do . learn the basic stuff on the site about how it works---Once you understand what it is supposed to do--it will make much more sense..and You WILL BE ABLE TO FIX IT!

I don't know much about bikes/trikes either. How can you learn if you don't ask questions? Maybe you just need a break. If you sell or give away your trike you may regret it later. I gave away a non-running trike to a friend who was supposed to fix it and go riding with me. Its been over a year and he is still too busy to go with me.

Unclediezel is right, You cant fix something if you dont know how it is supposed to work. There is no shame in asking questions. I have been an ATV mechanic for 2 years now and I still ask questions. Even on here, because there are other people that already know what I am trying to figure out. Put ol' betsy up, Get a repair manual and study it. Start with the Fuel system, then electrical, then move on to timing the machine. If its never been into before then it shouldnt be out of time unless the timing chain is just absolutly wore slap out.

The main problem being that many would try to answer Joe's questions, and be as helpful as possible, and Joe would not heed the advice. I think it may rub some folks the wrong way when they take the time to answer him and address his question, and Joe ignores it or does something else "close". Kinda frustrating.
Joe: educate yourself on basic mechanics of an engine-- what makes it work?. This will help a lot. Also, buy a Clymer manual (as many suggested repeatedly) and slow down a bit. Take your time and understand what you are doing as you do it. This will fix your bike and make for a much more rewarding experience.

Thats a really good idea, thats how I started out. Read that whole story about a 4 stroke engine...its VERY helpful.
Buy a clymer service manual. Also, very helpful
Good Luck

YTM boy, Im sure i speak for everyone who has had a little fun at you when I say, we dont have a dislike for you really, But when we offer advice many times and it APPEARS not to have been listened too, it is very very irratating. Why ask if your not going to listen.
The guys are right, study the engine workings on howstuff works, it will help you understand.

thanks again guys and i talk outta my arse when i say ill put it on the street lol i am starting to think 3 wheelers are alot better then 4 because only people with balls ride a less tire lol... Also i do try what you say but not the inside of the engine stuff im offlimits because i dont wanna strip anything or screw up anything more then it already is... Yes i did realize a little "not alot" of compression lost somewhere. Air will blow out of the spark plug hole but wont blow my finger off. I shouldn'y start another thread should I this is titled a bit different lol... that site confuses me its on car engines where are the 4 stroke engines??

That how stuff works article is great. I started out on a gokart, and moved up. If you read up on things, and get to understand how everything works, it will all be easier to fix the things that are wrong, and diagnose other problems.

If you take something apart and cant fix it again, just go to bikebandit.com b/c they have diagrams that you can look off of, they bailed me out of tight situations a couple of times.
Oh, and when you say it takes balls to ride 3 wheels, you might want to take that back, kind of, I know some of the guys on the boards here, there girldriends or wives ride with them on trikes too lol

i think you have a right to post here like anyone else.regardless of what anyone says. just because you may not have as much mechanical knowledge as the next guy doesnt mean you need to bash yourself. if there is something mechanicaly over your head, bring it to someone more qualified and stick to the easier things first. sooner or later you will get it.

yep ill tackle this bike soon when it warms up just to see if it wasn't the carb "choke".. It started great last summer but then again near the end of summer when it got colder out it started running like crap... Also the owner that had this before me said it was a odd bike in the winter lol i think i get what he means now lol. IT DOESNT START lol.. and he recently moved i didn't know him anyways.

That must be because it has no choke.
These bikes start very easy in the winter. 1/2 a pull will start mine from cold in -15*C weather.

Why sell it and find something new to do? Thats assinine. Why not just keep trying, then he will learn something new, and maybe eventually know it like the back of his hand..

lol this bike has been a great experiance mechanically because i learned everything about my carb also i learned that pantience seems to be the key..."come faster summer!" so yep i think it is the choke. I started to freak when i was told the piston and it needs bore and hone jobs lol. Then again i think about it this bike should run perfect when it warms up. I cant wait because be4 we put the needle and seat in the carb it was ok but leaked and flooded. Now it seems to be great i cant wait to ride this bad girl! Then some time in the summer I AM buying a choke lol hopefully..... So yeah then i will get to change my signature lol or some odd people can them sig are they lazy they cant add some more letters?? well thanks guys the long thread journey is over!!! but i may have little questions that can be anwsered it 2-3 posts? thanks again keep ridin like you stole em! -Joe

I just find it amusing how the guys who violently Ragg each other are the ones who would attack a poor defenseless trike with KRYLON!!!
Save that for the schoolyard walls guys----Unless you plan on "TAGGING " your rides

nope --No painted trike in the sig----But whats with the Tupperware????
Just a bit of humor to lighten the day---Dont take it to Heart
Technically---you dont paint plastics ---Because the paint hardens and the plastic doesnt---(CRACK CHIP AND PEEL)
There are paints available for "FLEXIBLE" situations----but they would look horrible ON A TRIKE
