i recently rebuilt the r,and thought i would try some amsoil.i bought some dominator, and mixed it 50-1.now it seems i can't get the bike tuned.

does the dominator burn really clean?my plugs are pure white, like they just came outta the box,but there is oil dripping from the silencer.i am very confused.it feels really rich, but the plugs read lean.any help is great.

Im a Amsoil Dealer and use it in practically everything I own. Its good stuff. Never used 2 stroke oil however. But I havent ran across anything they make thats not top notch stuff.

*Edited* know I run it. 50:1 all the time. As far as jetting, it is hard to get "color" on the plug. Go with how it feels for now. Start out fat, keep dropping till it breaks up on topend. When ya get there, bump it back up one size and fine tune with the airscrew. Your plug will get color on it eventually. With the 50:1 mix, you are actually running a bit richer than 32:1. Is it not taking all the fuel WOT? Blubbering? Sputtering? Does it not want to rev up? More info B.

i run amsoil in everything i own. i run interceptor in my sled at 50:1 and it runs great. my cousin ran dominator in his YZ 80 at 32:1 and he said it made a huge difference over spectro. i would do like speedbump recommended, start rich, and then gradually lean the mixture out

I'm gonna switch to the Dominator too, after I run outta Blue Marble to try that for a while.

Have you got a magnifying glass and looked down into the top part of the ceramic? Might not be running long enough to get color.

He has gone clear up to a 185 main and still 0 color. He has started as low as 170 something. and his bike has run like poop with all the different jets. he says it feels good on the bottom though. How are we supposed to know if it is rich if the plug ALWAYS looks pure white?

it's a very strange thing.seems like it's rich,but hte plug reads lean.i dunno,i don't have the patience to keep swapin jets.maybe i will just bid on the crf450 motor on egay,and build a thumper,lol.

Go by feel, Plug reading Is kind of an old wives tale from back in the day when they Ran led in the gas, it DOSE NOT work Near as good anymore, use it for little refernce, Go by feel 95% tho, you can tell when your too lean it will get choppy.

well it feels choppy, but i have always found that to be rich.a lean stumble feels like nothing, you know,WAAAA,BOOOOO,WAAAA,know what i mean.this is like chug, chug, dachug, chug, lol.it feels rich to me.i got oil drippin form the silencer.a 185 main,a 52 pilot, and the needle all the way rich.no improvments form the 172,42,and needle all the way lean.i have tried every jet,and combo in between.

really frustrating.

How much ams oil have you run though it? might still be burnin alot of BM Front the bottem of the crank...residue....Making it hard to read...

well i tried to get most of the old oil out when i rebuilt it the first time.then it blew a head gasket, and i again wiped, and cleaned the crank out.i don't think that the bm is still burnin, besides,it's not that i can't get a reading,it's that the plugs are pure white.i think it is suckin air from somewhere.not sure where yet,but i will find it.

Get out the carb cleaner!!!!! Spray and rev!

i did,it did not seem to do much.the bike was wariming up so it was idlin down anyway.i always thought the would die,or rev high when you sprayed the right spot.

i did have some fuel puddled up in the intake, and the gasket was all mushy?i wonder if the carb cleaner did this,or if the floodin of the engine caused the fuel to puddle, and that led to the gasket decomposition?i replaced both gaskets, and put on a NOS intake boot i had.hopefully this works.

also i had the crank seal pushed to fair in,and we are hopin that was causin some of the issue.hopefully the cases are true, and not f-ed up.i am runnin 2 base gaskets so that should help that.i dunno, gonna go wrench right now

You did a rebuild an run pure synthetic race oil for the break in? I would use a mineral oil base first! Then do the synthetic. I run Dominator in my R without a problem. And it friggen rips until I run out of gear. lol

for the break in i ran amsoil injector hp,still synthetic, but i mixed it 32-1.
