Another quick question. I own a 3-wheeler and am going to be 16 yrs old in 2 days.

So, is there any kind of license/permit/anything I need to buy/get/apply for to own or ride my trike?

I just wondered.

Thanks guys.

If anything is needed then links are GREAT!

The nice thing is, where I live, the police can no longer afford to keep police/anything on the trails or regulate them or anything. So basically now I can ride my 3-wheeler wherever I want/whenever I want/however FAST I want.

Not that I know you need any of those to ride.
Could be different in your area though.
My kids (11 and 13) ride and all they need is proper protective gear (because I stress safety constantly) a valid off road tag on all our trikes and we cruise to enjoy the scenery and ride.
When we see a forest service worker come down the road, we pull off to the side and they always wave at us.
We play it safe and play it cool and not give a bad name to ATC's.
Never been hassled. They respect safety and self control.

Yeah, Check your state laws... I know my girls always get ticked at me because I don't let them go off alone or with friends, but guess who gets the ticket. Not them....

Where do you plan on riding? Forest? State land or BLM?
I would go (or call) to like a motorcycle dealer that sells ATV's and check.
Thats where I get my permits for Idaho.
10 bucks per trike for all year to ride anywhere in the state.

you have to check your local laws. Some states require you to have insurance, lisence, registration, that little tag, and there are still some things you cant do while others (like Pa) state that if the machine was made before 1987 you dont need ANYTHING except a helmet.

You don't need a title or registration to ride in Michigan. If you ride on government owned land, you need an ORV sticker and a helmet, plus a spark arrestor. You can get an ORV sticker at any place that sells a hunting licence. I think it is 16.95 and is good for a year. If you are going to be riding on private land, an ORV or spark arrestor is not required. Hope that helps.

Unles your SX's exhaust is hollowed out you have one welded in. So you have that aspect covered.

Ok, I probably do then. I am pretty much a 3-wheeler noob.

I recieved them (2 identical 250 sx's) about 1.5-2 years ago. They were my parent's when they were first married and have been stored for 15 years. So I got one out, changed the oil, put some fresh gas in and it started right up.

The other one did not start and there is something wrong with the ignition. So I took all of the good, clean/new looking parts/body off of it and put everything that was the best/looked best onto the running one.

It is all excellent condition except for the paint on the tank, engine and foot area.

So, ya, just working on getting the paint re-done and new decals/stickers.

hell with registration/permits unless your state has good riding areas where they are required. its just another way to collect tax money. in the crappy state of CT im pretty sure you have to go to DMV to register your machine, but their are no legal riding areas in CT that allow act/atv's. so F that!
