Just picked up some new tires for my "new" 86 200x with stock 9 inch aluminum wheels. Do any of you guys mount your own tires, or is my best bet to just bring em all down to the bike shop. I'm used to mounting tires on my dirtbikes using a few small tire irons... something tells me ATV tires will be a bit more of a challenge! Any help is appreciated. Steve.

Good luck----
Stop at dunkin donuts --pick up some coffee--and head over to the local auto repair shop-----I do them for the neighborhood kids all the time---They usually have blood stains all over them and a kid with bashed knuckles--

Depends how stiff the tire is....Most time its just easier to throw it on the tire machine and do it insted of Fkin around with bars for an hour.

Yeah I pick one simular to that one at harbor freight for under $40. I just got tired of those jerks at the local tire shop near my home scraping up my rims with their machine and then having the nerve to charge me $10 a piece. Mine is actually waste height and mounted to the shed floor. Too old to bend down and do it. Works great.

I used the Harbor freight one and bent the hell out of the handle. The tire didnt budge. It had been on for a while. Years actually. I use the old drive up on the tire method. Works everytime. I get my wife to drive the truck and ease up on the edge of the tire and rim. I do this in the grass. The weight of the truck breaks the bead every time. Cheap and easy.
