KLT 110 Engine Swap

Hello all, I was curious if a KLT 160's engine would fit a KLT 110's frame.I have heard yes & no on this;any help??

Well, I looked at both my 110 and my 160. It wont fit and here is why.

The 110 frame's center cradle near the exhaust is dead center. If you look at your 110 engine, you will see that the exhaust port is slighlty to the right.
On a 160 engine, the exhaust port is dead center, which will cause you problems with the exhaust header and frame.

The 110 is chain drive. The 160 is shaft. If you find a way to get the 160 engine in the 110 frame, now you have to consider the rear end. The 110 frame lacks reinforcement sections required for mounting the differential housing.

In my opinion, too much work for what it is worth.

Also keep in mind, the 110 engine was made for at least 4 years. The 160 was only made 1 year so parts are limited.

I kinda figured it would not work. I used to have a KLF 185 Bayou and it was shaft drive also. I was just curious about the engine swap. The 110 runs great and is nearly bullet proof;like I was always told "if it aint broke dont fix it." Thanks...

KLT man! I need your help, again. :? You sent me some breakdowns for the KLT 110A cylinder head for valve seal replacement. Well my cylinder is really loose, and I'm to cheap to pay for a bore job and new piston on this thing. But my friend has a KLT 185 engine. We were wondering if the 185 head and jug would bolt up to my bottom end, with cam gear/chain modifications if nessasary. I don't know what year his 185 is if that matters, but I can find out. My 110 is an '84.

Sorry to say, but the upper on KLT 185 will NOT fit a lower on a KLT 110. :(

The KLT 160 and KLT 185 engines are almost identical, but the KLT/KLF 110 has a different layout. :?

And just to let you know, read above if you were thinking of putting the entire KLT 185 engine in your 110 frame. :( :( :(
