Hello everyone! After owning a 2002 Warrior 350, I decided to go back in time and bought a Yamaha 225 DX shaft yesterday. I am new to this so I decided to do a search on trikes and came across this forums. I paid $800.00 for my DX in California. It is in good condition for the year that was built ('84) but it was first registered in 85. It runs good. If anyone would like to point me in the right direction to keep this baby in top notch condition, or to unlock the potential of this beast please send me or post your comments. I will be visiting this forum often to learn as much as possible about this fun sport. I would like to post pictures but I click in the add picture icon above and asked my to enter a URL of my image???? (I probably going to need advise on this subject too to upload the pics)

Anyway, this is a great forum and thanks in advance for your support

yes thats great man there awsome trikes and are high in torqe. i have one and its the only one ive had, its in my sig below. i would say to keep it in good health just do the normal stuff you would any bike trike car. change oil lube it up clean filter ect. there not really a handfull to keep up. umm the most i can think of is to watch out and try not to crash the front end the forks bend easliy and are kinda hard to find a non-bent set for a reasonable price. me and my freind have the same bike but his is an 84 and mine is an 85. when we race i take him till 5th gear which i am basicly topped out at and vroom he passes me by a good 6mph. Im all stock but he has an DG performance exhaust. so that exhasut helps. You can go to www.denniskirk.com and search parts for the bike and they also have exhaust's. to get the most i would say get an exhaust and maybe one size bigger jets. if your a laid back kinda worker guy and would like this trike to work with then i dont wanna get into naking it look sporty and cool. thats what im doing to mine and its look alright but im going to go from a 22'' to 20'' in the back. also yamaha has most parts you need. anyways good luck with your new trike and welcome to the board and you will find tons of help and information on this site. welcome to the 225dx krew. also there is another man here called "Edog" he has a pretty awsome 225dx that he can talk about to you. with mods he's done to his. if you need any help feel free to PM me.

L8er, Royson

*EDIT* also i forgot to add to add pictures by the submit button at the bottom next to it is an advanced button press that. after that go down a lil and you will see a buttom to add attachments. use that for pictures. if there to big use tinypic.com to upload them and get the url and use that button at the top for that.

Je-Je, I been trying to figure out the quoting thingy here and finally I did it. Now, to insert the picture as a signature.... I click the icon with the mountain below to the "undo" icon and requires the URL ...Do I need to use the web site you suggested??

Royson, I now I have been asking too many questions here but I'm new to this craze (addicted) but let me ask you a few things here if you don't mind...

How do I check and adjust the valves? and
If yoou look the 225 DX from the rear tire, there is a label on the left side that reads "use hypoid gear oil" how do I check the level and change/add oil?

I will take a hi-res picture today and I will upload them

Thanks in advance,

Yellowman

my guess is the bottle is there to catch gas while doing wheelies, at least thats what we use to do, you would be suprised how much gas you waist doing wheelies lol

Your rear mudflaps are on the top of the fender. They go under the fender. There should be metal braces for the fender.Just looking out.

This is what it should look like.:pics:

I asked the guy whom I bought from and he said that it will prevent acid coming out of the battery to end up in the bed of the truck when lifted on two wheels for transport. Dunno if it works yet, there is plenty of room in the back of my 97 dodge.

Thanks for resizing those pics, like I said, I am open for suggestions. I will fix those mud flaps, I though those were adapted from anoher bike or something (just like the bottle next to the battery.)

Thanks for looking out!
