Bayou 300 questions

Ive got a Bayou 300 with weird problems. If we hook up jumper cables, it will start and run fine, when the cables are disconnected, it dies. Stator or?

does it need a battery in it to keep it running. maybe it needs a complete circuit. this is a weried one.

just hook up a junk battery if you dont mind jumping it everytime, probably needs one to complete the circuit

sorry I should have been more clear. It does have a battery on it, a dead one, but its connected. anyone know how to do a basic test on a stator?

If you can get that battery charged or put a good one on it. Try to get it to run long enough to stick a multi meter on it.Id think it should be around 13 volts or a little more,running and charging right
