Hi
What do you reckon on my billet bearing carrier I made on the lathe ,,,its not perfect as I turned the larger diameter (the one with the adjusting holes ) whilst it was offset in the chuck ,,I should have left it as it was !!! but its saved a few me a few coins !!

Looks awesome. I've always wondered, how do you cut off center (accentric) like that on the lathe? Is it mounted offset in the check?

Hi Billy
What you do is put the billet in a 4 jaw chuck ,these jaws are independant so you can hold the workpiece almost wherever you want it , to turn the bearing carrier i worked out the offset and then used a DTI clock to get it running true then using the jaws and the DTI as a reference, offset the billet by 5.9mm in one direction ,then just turn it to the correct diameter ,,I hope you can follow that its easier to show you in pics than to explain in words if you know what I mean lol!!! I,ll try and get some pics next time I make one and post them if you want

Cheers

You ought to perfect the method and make up a few to sell.

Very nice Stacey;)
With your skills you should make some axle extenders, I could do with a set:D :D

That looks good stacey! Whats a piece of round stock like that cost over there? I'm guessin its 6061? I think here in the states a piece like that would run about $40 or so. I've been looking at some stock similar to that to make some new inverted tripple clamps in aluminum.

Stacey, nice job & very cool. Thanks for the pic of the eccentric setup on the lathe. I've always wondered how that was done, and in this case a picture is worth a 1,000 words. It must be nice to have a lathe or at least access to one. What I could do with one of those!

Very cool. Looks just like the Profession Built you can buy. Keep at it, and who knows, you can possibly supply the ATV crowd across the Pond.

LOL !! Thanks Speedbump ,If someone can provide me with a T3 bearing carrier I could make some up as I know these are pretty hard to get hold of ,Are they similar to the 250R carriers ,anyone have any pics ??

Cheers for the comments !!:beer

I bought a 1 metre length of 100mm diameter for £100 so that would be about $174 and the carrier is 180mm long so yeah you are just about right on the money $43 for the carrier stock !!!! You da man !!!

here's a pic http://i10.ebayimg.com/04/i/05/fb/0d/3e_1.JPG I have some spares if you think you can do it. Looks a little more complex than the R carrier.
