I would like to hear other people's opinions about my QS swingarm. My 230 wasn't well maintained, at least not when it came to ensuring the shock-to-swingarm mounting bolt was tight. I bought this thing and have now found that the swingarm has an egg-shaped hole where the shock mounts to the swingarm. This produces noticeable play. Not a real easy spot to get to for grinding/welding either. My thoughts are weld a couple of beefy washers to each side of the shock mounting area on the swingarm and call it good. Any other ideas or advice?

On the right side of the swing arm is there a hole to access the bolt for the shock with a socket and extension? On the opposite side is or was there a nut welded on it? If so I would weld the proper size nut on the left side. That should take care of that side of the mount and on the other side I would weld a washer on it. Nothing to big and bulky you don’t want it to look like a hack job. You might want to consider welding the hole itself and file it out to the bolt size.Thats a lot of work and can be time consuming if you can even get a file in that area. jmo

You're right on the money as far as how the swingarm is configured. The nut welded on the left side of the swingarm is completely stripped out and the I.D. egg-shaped as well. I had considered filling/redrilling the hole to correct the problem, but I think it might be better to buildup the thinkness of this area while I'm at it.

On a side note...I have a YFM80, mine is an '87 without the headlight (Thanks CPSC). Almost finished restoring it, but can't get it to fire...I think maybe valve clearances are set too tight or bad CDI.

I also used to have a fairly large collection of Quadzillas...two that ran, almost two more in parts. Sold it all when my daughter was born. Greg Casdorf (AMA Hillclimber) ended up with most of it. Stuffing a 'zilla engine into an LT230S sounds a bit crazy...post some pics when you get that beast together.

Thanks for the advice.
