I am new to this board. There are always tons of folks on here. It's awesome. I need to know whether any year honda 110 head is interchangeable with another? I have and 85 with a bored out spark plug hole. I purchased a used head off ebay and I know its earlier than an 85. Will it work on my 85 or are there any differences that I should know about. Lets assume its a head with cdi rather than points. Thank you. I would have been on this site sooner but Aim apparently blocks all emails from here even after I put this addy on my contact list.

Well I don't know for sure, but I think that any ATC110 head would work on your '85 motor. You will probably have to get one that is made for CDI to work with your electrical system. Not sure if the cdi unit will work on the points heads. The early ones were points ignition. Why would the spark plug hole be "bored out"? If the threads are stripped, it can be repaired with a simple heli-coil.
Welcome to the board! There is tons of useful information to be found here, and many helpful folks that have knowlege of specific machines.

Thanks. I was told that a larger plug was tried on it. Apparently the original stripped out and I assumed that they tried to drill and thread for a larger size plug. I tried to put an original plug in it and it swims in the hole now. The other head seemed like a cheaper deal. I was told helicoil kits for this would be like $80. Which would be the best way to go? Will a shop put in a helicoil for a reasonable price?

dude - your right on the money get a used head off of ebay - just do not try to remove the valve guides!! I was trying this the other day on my 83 head and put a punch thru it now it is ruined. I had the whole thing polished by then so i was ticked. I got a used one on ebay instantly. right now they have an 85 110 head on ebay. I have a bid on it currently -item number : 4615780402
the main difference on the later heads - 81 thru 85 is that I think half way thru 84 they started using different valve retaining stuff. so if you use an 82 or 83 head - just make sure you are using all the valves, retainers and plates that came out of the same head. (dont ask - honda is weird)

Cool. Thanks. So just leave everything alone on the valvesa it it should be good to go? How did you polish your head? What do you use?

sorry for the delay in the response - i was doing homework for a few months it seems - how you polish it depends on how shiny you want it. its aluminum so it shine pretty easy. I use a die grinder with a wire wheel in it or an angle die grinder with the fine roloc bits.. that stuff shines anything. if you wanna go crazy you could use little buffing wheels and pads on a dremel or a die grinder with some compound... but really a wire wheel at high rpm or the roloc works great

any 90 or 110 head will work they are the same...haveing cdi or points has nothing to do with the head
