Am I correct in my belief that the suspension strut(dogbone link) of the '85 ATC and the '86 TRX 250 R's are the same? I'm wanting to order an aftermarket lowering strut but the '86 TRX is the closest model listed. Parts Fish has the same price for them, and they look the same, so.....

I am running an '86 TRX R on my '85 ATC R without any problems for a few years now.

Thanks, John.
I had read on the .org forum that the two used different bolts. If I had been fully awake :D when I went to partsfish to look at the struts, I would have looked at the bolts and found them to be the same.

I see in your sig you are building a flattracker, is there somewhere down there that'll let you run it? We have a few up here (indoor and outdoor) but when we showed up with a small fleet of trikes and asked for a class the promoter almost had a heart attack. His insurance specifically states "no three wheelers". We do some informal ice racing up here in the winter but that's about it. I bought a TRX R just so I could start running flat track but I really would rather be riding my ATC.

There is a local speedway(dirt oval for dirt tack cars) that allows 3 wheelers to run in the ATV class, which can have both 2 and 4 strokes in it. I asked an official there year before last about running with the 4 wheelers and he said that was fine. Last year there was a 3 wheeler or two running, so I'm getting ready for this year.
Going for an extended axle, Hoosier Tri Tracs, and a motor built for top end.
Aint it amazing how a sanctioning body or an insurance company can restrict participation of 3 wheelers based upon the"instability" reputation, yet allow dirt bikes that can be tipped over sitting still with the motor off free reign.

You've got that right!! Unfortunately I live in the north east which is lawyer heaven and it ruins it for everyone. Good luck with it, I can honestly say I think I would've run faster on my "instable" trike than my quad, I did it all to that quad (lowered to the ground,FTZ porting, Paul Turner High rev Pipe, .120" over to make it a 270 in a 250 class, -3" swingarm, +2" A-arms, +4" rear axle) and I could still do better on my ATC with just a wide axle and a adjustable strut. Arrrrrrgggggghhhhh!!!
