I have an 87 200X. I'm trying to change out my swingarm but the pivot bolt is frozen and the bolt for the shock is frozen. I've been soaking these things for days but no help.
Any ideas?
Thanks

You are going to need a new bolt, so with that said, take a right angle drill or die grinder with a cut off wheel attatched to it and hack it off between the gap from the frame to the swing arm, from the swing arm to the motor. So basically you will cut the bolt 4 times, 2 times from in between the frame to the swing arm, and two from the inside of the sing arm, the gap between were the motor allows the bolt to go through ad the swing arm, sounds confusingI know but it is about the best I can do to write it out.

There Is one other thing you can try, If you have access to one. I use an air chizzel with a special hammer tipped bit. The first thing I do is put the nut on the threaded end to where it's even with the threads, but not tight against the frame. Then put the hammer bit on the nut & vibrate it in, If it moves in then go to the other side & vibrate it back & forth a few times & it will come right out. Especially If you have been using some good penetrating oil.

1984kxtTECATE said it right thats how i had to do it. i tried everything else heat to a big ass hammer. your going to have to cut because the bearings have seized themselves to the bolt. this happend on my 86R. but once you get the swing arm out your going to have some fun getting the bearings out if you your going to use the swingarm over again.

Try everything else first. and before you go cutting it make sure you have a new bolt to replace the one your cutting. I don't know if other swingarm bolts will work in your bike... It might be a tough find...
