As long as there is a market for it chicky you should be alright. I always thought building trick trike parts like swingarms, hubs, fiberglass number plates and fenders, and custom frames would be a cool and worthwhile pastime/hobbyjob but even with all the ATC freaks out there I think you would be hard pressed to make a go of it.

I started my shop with less than 50K. Its worth 3 times that no and my 2 years open date was yesterday. I am also no longer renting, I own my business in a totally new location. It takes the Will and drive more than anything.
You have to spend you money wise. As much as I hate to say this, most of your money will be in quads. Make sure to stock Brakes, Bearings, Oil Filters, Spark Plugs. Those are my #1 items. Most people rig there machine out at the dealership when they buy them so when someone comes to you (or me anyway) they are after hard parts. I consider hard parts something that goes behind the counter. I am going to PM you the name of parts distributors that you can talk with.

I am in the same process. I all ready have a Corp. that I can use. I all ready have one business(very small). I just need to get a DBA so I can have it operating under another name. You the 2 things bryan said. I would also recomend getting Incorpated. It can protect you if you ever get in a law suite. I would go with a S corp. All so make sure you follow all your state laws. I will share any info I get with you & keep you posted as to the steps I have to go through. Hope you will might do the same.

Each state and municipality has their own laws and ordinances regarding setting up a business. You will need a plan, and the first step would be to find a location to operate from. Make sure the location you choose suits your needs and allows for growth. It needs to be zoned properly or you will have trouble with big brother. Also, make sure that if you enter into a lease on a property, that the property will be available for a long time to come. Sometimes a landlord will decide to sell a property or lease it to someone else, effectively shutting you down. Start small, work hard, if you build it they will come! Good luck!
