I got a 1983 200x that has a 185 engine rigged in it.
anyway, if you bounce on the thing the rear shock goes down and comes up and slams against something and like hits a "wall". (fully extends i guess)
my 350x i used to have would not do this it would just bounce up and down smoothly.
the 200x is pretty much tore up from the floor up. maybe the shock is messed up or is this normal for a 200x?
Could be over charged with Nitrogen.
Too much preload on the spring.

yeah, thats all spring. when charged, the rebound is slower. Riding that bike the way it is will be like a trampoline and dangerous too.

Thats deffinatly blown. When the shock blows out, it could still have nitrogen in it, but that dosnt matter, because it is the oil that makes the biggest difference. If the seal on the shaft starts leaking, forget about it, it will feel just like you explained. There are two chambers in the shock, the gas chamber is in the remote resovoir and pushes a piston inside. Then the other half of the resovoir is oil, as well as the shock body. You should be able to find a replacement or get it rebuilt. The shock actually isnt too bad when it is working for what the machine is.
