Does anybody know if there is anything holding on the rear brake drum on an 85 250 ES??? mine's so caked up w/ mud that the pressure washer cant even get it clean enough to see if there are any screws/bolts that hold it on....otherwise, i gotta loosen up my brakes up a WHOLE lot more...any help is appreciated:confused:

On your 250 the drum is bolted to the hub/rim to remove it you will have to back out the adjuster nut on the cable alllll the way out and then roll up your sleeves..

Remove the axle nut.. cut the gator clip first.. duhh... and remove the tire/rim/hub/brake drum in one piece.

Once all the bolts and such have been removed, I had to take a hammer and lightly tap it all the way around to finally break mine loose. If its caked on lookin you will need to smack it nicely all the way around to get it off. I would suggest to sand blast it or scrub it nicely with SOS pad to clean it up.

OK, so i need to take the hub assembly off also?? i just got done fixing the hub on the left side, and I decided it was also time to put on that new set of brakes that have been sitting on the workbench for a while.....i already have the rim/tire off (puttin a new set of ITP rims and mud-lites on it)...but we have never changed out the rear brakes on it since we got it lol, so my dad knows nothing at all about it either lol

go there and download the 250es service manual. That will tell you all you need to know.
