I got this Big Red a month ago, and Shattered the Left Rear Fender on the 1st ride. (Note) If you go for a ride when its below 0 degrees dont slip and fall on your Fenders. They Shatter:eek:
Anyways This is a 3 Owner Ride and Runs real good. 1st owner was a Farmer, The second owner was a company that used it for a few weeks a year for Hauling Ice around the New York State Fair. It then sat for the year untill the next years fair. The guy I got it from bought it from the company about 6 years ago and used it for Hunting up in the Adirondaks. He said he really didnt use it much and it was taking up space in his Garage. I even have the Paperwork so I can register it. Thats pretty Rare in my Book. I need to go to Motor Vehicals I guess.
There is some surface rust on the Front forks up high, There is no ticking or loose bearings. The motor is real strong and runs like a champ. I have only ridden it a few times as the tires a worn about 70% and get clogged up in the snow and mud. Thats how I slipped and fell on the Fender, while Pushing it. The only thing it needs is a seat cover, a tail light lens and a headlight Bulb. I bought a set of new Maier Fenders last week.
I really like this ride, with all the Racks and Reverse gear. Suspension is nice allso. The only thing really wrong with it is that it pulls to the Right up front and im not sure why. I can only guess that the Right side Shock on the Fork is softer than the Left. Does that make sense? There is nothing bent or loose and the Tires are all inflated the same. It makes for a Sketchy ride as you need to pull to the left to go straight, and if you pull to much it can flip. Its pretty Twitchy on the road, not so bad on the snow and dirt. Does anyone know what makes it Pull to the right like that?
I figured I would show it off because I think Im going to sell it and the Honda 125 M I have to make Space. Not in a hurry but will sell if price is right. I convinced myself that the 200X and Tecate are enough and that I have wanted a Quad ever since I had to sell my new one when I got hurt. Its been 8 years and I can Ride now that im off work comp. Suzuki King Quad here I come:w00t:
Anyway if anyone knows alot about the Big Red, I would appreciate some info and ideas on why she pulls up front. If anyone knows where I can get a seat cover and the other Parts let me know. Allso what are the Perfect Tires for this Beast? What do decent Big Reds with Paperwork go for? If you want it before I spend alot of Money PM me.
Heres some pics, shes a bit dirty from the last time I rode her. Any info and parts would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

First off, those fenders are over 20 years old so they dont fare too nicely in the cold woods. If you dont care for the stock look then I say you need to do the new style maier fenders. They will hold up nicely and last a long time. As far as the front end, before you go and change the forks and such, maybe think about trying a different front tire. Those are also factory 20 year old tires that could be full of fix it flat, I know mine were lol. Give rangerover a shout for a OEM front tire. This sucker will be around alot longer than you will, thats how tough they are.

I don't know if it's the picture or not but the left rear tire looks a lot bigger/overinflated than the right. Try swapping the back tires from side to side and see if the pull changes.

just because they are at the same psi doesnt mean they are the same circumfrence. Measure both so they are the same, then give it a shot. I think your problems will go away then.

Oh and meat-box, im still down for riding up near you over the summer...when you plan one, give me a heads up and ill be there. Ill have trouble deciding which bike to bring...the x or the r...

Thanks for the info. I will probably just get new Tires soon and I will check the Rims to be sure they are the correct size. All it will need then is a seat cover. Anyone know where to find one that isnt $70 but is nice?

There is a guy on Ebay, Verde powersports or something like that that usually has good deals on aftermarket seat covers. Now that it's getting a little warmer we'll have to get together for a all Big Red ride.
