The hubs are loose on the axle, and i know the axle splines are to blame. The nuts are torqued correctly. I remember reading on here somewhere, kind of recently, that someone used a marine product on the splines, and let it cure, and it fixed the loose wheel problems assoicated with worn splines. And all it took to remove the hubs was a swift whack from a rubber mallet. Ive searched and searched but still cant find the thread.

If anyone can tell me how to fix this without getting a new axle, please let me know. And if anyone knows that other thread im talking about, or the person can chime in here and help me out, id appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mike

I had a 86 200x with the same problem and just used a liberal amount of red Locktite on the splines. Clean the axle and hub good before you start and you should be good to go. Best of all the red Locktite loosens up with a little heat. The only marine product that I can think of that might work is Marine Tex. It is a 2 part putty/epoxy that is pretty durable.

i just kept on searching, and i found my answer. Marine tex is the stuff. Im gonna go try to get some now, hopefully the local boaters world is open

Thanks,

Are you sure its the axle, and not the hubs? Hubs usually wear out first, unless youre already on a differnet set.

the hubs came off the original axle on the bike. The splines on the original axle were perfect. I got a new axle for the price of shipping from my wife knows everything, and i know the splines werent perfect. I just got done marine texing it, and they are a LOT tighter now, almost perfect. Ill just keep my eyes on it...

Thanks everyone,
Mike

I had a simular problem, I have a small powder coating set up in my garage and blasted the hubs and put about 3 coated of powder on the and baked. fit like a glove now, probably won't last forever, but looks nice and will by some time until I can get a new set of hubs.
