So, I want to bore out my 1985 110 motor. Is this a good way to go? Should I just buy a bigger engine and slap it into the 110's frame?
Also, a few links on pistons and such would be great. Thanks guys!

wiseco.com. If you want more power try to find a high compression pistion for it too because boring alone wont give you the effect you want. Also you might want to think about regearing.

No, I wouldn't bore just for more power. By just boring you will only gain a couple of cc's. Unfortunately the biggest engine that will bolt in is only a 125cc so that doesn't give you many more either. I would say the best way to go is to bore it the next size up just to freshen it up, find a higher compression piston, get a performance cam, performance exhaust, and then re-gear it. If you want more power then that and have deep pockets do a search, there are a few Honda 110 projects going on now by other board members.

I agree 100%! Though I will add a option. You might be able to have the motor stoked ( BIG $$$ ). This would give you more power. But it will also take away from the long term durability of the motor.

Just buy a 250 R and a good quality helmet ! lol....

Where is the challenge in that ;)? I'm going overkill on mine to enter it in the kids class. One kid has 2 small cc Scramblers that always win, well its time for him to move over.

i say do it.....for a cheap big bore i know a atc 125 piston will work....then get a cam and pipe....and maybe a 185 carb youll be set...lol
my 110 has a custom high compretion piston
mega cycle cam
cobra pipe
185 carb
and a huge port job
as long as you keep it wound up it runns real good!! but a bigger piston will add much needed tourque

So a 125 will fit into my 110 frame? If I got the 125, bored that out and got a good piston and stuff, wouldn't that be better?

no...i meant use a 125 piston in your 110 motor....just a thought

For the amount of power you get.. the tradeoff is reliability.. keep the 110 as is and get something with balls if you really want to go fast..
I do understand the appeal of having a small machine that rips.. but in all honesty, the gains are not that great for the amount of money involved.
It's like converting a trike to a quad.... what's the point ?

the point is its fun and different...lol

I remember a year or so ago some dude posted pix of a 200 motor machined all to heck with the cylinder pointing forward and it was going into a 110 but nothing came of it. Anyone remember that one?
Found it:

Boring is not a performance modification and should not be done for that purpose. Its purpose is to clean up defects or uneven wear in the cylinder wall.

I believe that 200x was in a atc70! That would be greenhumans atc70. That thing would probably rip the eyeballs out of your sockets. I want one. I would put it in one of my suspension 70s'.

you can always do what the rednecks do, and weld a 350 sbc on the frame!

And then weld on some wheelie bars?? lol
I would mainly bore it out, not for a huge power gain, but to indeed clean the engine up like another user here stated. A new piston in a freshly bored out shaft just seems like a good idea.
How much of a modification would I have to do to put in a performance piston? Is it as easy as bolting it in, or are there modifications that have to be done.
What I have in mind so far is a bore (mainly to clean it), a performance piston, and new fuel lines, petcock and clutch. Any other ideas?
If I replace the clutch, should I redo the gears? Is it a good idea to replace anything while down in there (besides the seals)? Good idea to change to timing chain and such? I sure wish there was a complete write up on this already.

You could also put a 200x carb on it. Then get a nice K&N filter for the x carb. That would help out some with power.

a performance pistion is bolt in. It just has a larger dome to compress the Air/fuel in the cyclinder more

Will a 200x carb fit on with no problem? Or is there going to be some cutting and fitting?

Found a piston on eBay. Says it is a new .25 mm over piston kit for the Honda ATC and CT 110 models and it's going for $34.95 or about 36 bucks for "buy it now."
Is this a good idea for my atc, or is this not a performance piston. It's an "over" piston, whatever that means. And it says it is a bit bigger than stock, which makes boring out the old cylinder more possible. (replacement kit include piston, rings, pin and wrist pin clips) I am guessing it is not a performance upgrade?

no its not...its just the next size overbore
doing a big bore i was talking about means you need to get a bigger sleeve for your cylinder
