How do you weld rubber to steel?

the rim is bolted to the hub and the hub is welded to the axle as a matter of fact.. sing along : knee bone conected to the .. ... . lol...
Grind the welds off and yank that sucker.. hopefully not welded too well if you are lucky !
My friend did this with his big red...apparently he striped the Axle splines when he wraped one side of the BR around a tree one night...lol

well this thing has been hit by a few trees, sheet metal on the plastics...so *Edited* guys think i should grind the welds off and check out my problem, the reason i need to get the tires off is that the rear brakes are ceased, and i cant do anything with the tires on..

Are the brakes seized up making the wheels impossible to turn ? or just not working ?
If the rear axle will turn, i would work on getting the front brakes working and leave the rears alone for now..
If the axle is seized up because of the brakes.. then you don't have much of a choice !!

I hate to do it but I have welded a good many of the early 200 Hondas like that. The splines give out and the wheel "freewheels" with no power going to it. You will have to grind off the weld. The best is to use a cutting disc on a mini grinder and be careful with it. Best also to remove the gas tank to be safe. The axle and the hub are now ruined anyway so when you are finished doing what you have to do get them welded up again. Unless of course you have lots of money to buy a new axle and hubs. Like I say, I hate to do it but if thats what the customer wants and is willing to give me ten dollars I will weld it up.

When i was wating for my new axle and hubs, because the splines were striped, i tried to weld it. It worked well for a good month riding 6 days a week, but aftet 3 times braking it was time for the new one to go in.
I would say they are welded bacse they are striped.
Cant you just unbolt the tire from the hub, and do your work? just dont take off everything. i never remove the axle nuts or drum from the axle when i change mine.

You shouldn't have to remove the hub to fix the brakes ( unless the drum is screwed up ). Unbolt the tire and remove it from the hub. Loosen the axle nuts, and then remove the brake cover. Slide the brake drum on the axle and you will gain access to the shoes. Lubricate the tumbler pin and replace the shoes. Once this is done re-install everything and you should be good to go.
If you want to replace the axle, hub, rear bearings, ect then you will need to cut the weld. I should have at least 1 good axle and 2 good hubs if needed.
