Any of the OTC or others that are going to TF have a spare set of 18" or 20" "flat" profile tires (holeshots, fast trekkers, or similar) mounted on Honda rims that would bolt onto a 350X?

I'd like to MX this year, but money is pretty tight (Family of 5 vacation to Florida in May) and the 20" Knarlys don't slide nearly as well as I would have liked.

If anyone has a set that I could borrow, I'd appreciate it. I have a set of stock 350X rims I could use if someone had a semi cheap pair of tires for sale also.

If not, no big deal, I sure don't think the rear tires will make up for my lack of skill on an MX track.;)

I may have a set on the 250r by then that you could use. I'm gonna get some 18" holeshots for it. If not I have some 20" razr's on the 350x we could pull off for the race. I'm not motorcrossin this year.

That would be super. I'm gonna keep digging around with some local guys and see if there might be enough $$ for a set.

Over at exriders there's a set of 18" Klaws on Honda rims for $110 shipped. Sounded very reasonable to me...timing is everything though.

I'm headed to Florida for a week for work tomorrow and my wife is flying down to meet me mid week. That ate up a few hundred for airfare. Then the trip in May for the whole family...

Thanks Rick for the offer. I may take you up on it :beer

HAHAHAhahahaha....Never happen! My local cycle shop has a brand new pair of 18" turf tamers on 8" ITP steelies, Honda bolt pattern for $160. I'd say that's a great deal! If your interested, pm me and i'll pick them up for you. I can even deliver them to TF for you!

Headin to Florida Rhuel? Let me know if your gonna be in my neck of the woods ;-)

As for the 18's, I dont have any but I figured I'd offer this piece of advice. When I ran them on my Tri-Z last year it made it where the frame bottomed out before the suspension did. KILLED my knees on the jumps. I should have left the 20s on just put up with the poor turning but I decided to take the pain and let me tell you, I could barely walk for a week after I got back. Just something to check and keep in mind.

I won't be spankin' anyone....I'll be happy if I make it through all the motos and races.

Thanks for the heads up on the wheels D. But, $160 for steel 8s and 18" turf tamers....that doesn't sound like such a great deal.

Chaparral has a bunch of different tire/rim (aluminum) combos for the same or less even after shipping.

I dunno what I wanna do.

Billy, I'll be staying in Deerfield Beach and going to a conference in Boca Raton. A lil ways off from Live Oak.

Well...next question...I am looking at rocky mtn and they have Kenda Klaw MX 18x10.5x9 shipped for $99.98. Link to Rocky Mtn. (http://www.rockymountainatv.com/productDetail.do?prodFamilyId=5384&navTitle=Tires+and+Wheels&webCatId=8&webTypeId=138&stockId=24986&navType=type)

I have a set of 9" OEM Honda rims that are like new to mount them on. Would these do well for MX or will they be similar to the Knarlys I have now? Does going from a 20" to 18" really make that big of a difference?

Why not just get a set of 20 or 18 inch turf tamer for your rims? Probably easier to spin than klaws and cheaper.

Yeah..Boca's a long ways away from here. Enjoy your stay in FLA Rhuel.

Rhuel...Just get a set of standard issue Turf Tamers and I will apply my "TC Special" grooving to them for you. Great forward bite, yet easy to blow off around corners. I had a set on my old '85 200x and even it could break em loose whenever it wanted to. Trust me, us OTC guys have a backdoor solution to any problem...lol.

Alright, lets be totally honest here. For the 350X on Haspins track, anything with tread is going to be too much traction. I'm going to run my Turf Savers on the X for MX, and would advise anyone else to do the same.
If I had to run a treaded tire, it would most certainly be turf tamers. The nice thing about the Klaws is the price, and you'll be able to run them alot more places.
Everything is a compromise. I'd head down to the local lawnmower dealer and dig around for a used set of 18" turf savers then throw them on some cheap 8" wheels. That's the only way you'll slide that X sideways!

I have a set of 18 inch turf tamers on some 8 inch beadlocks you can use if you need them. One of the tires has had the tread modified for some reason, I think maybe for sliding??

Yall need HOOSIERS. (if the track is clay or damp dirt) They will hook better than any other. Only $30 each.

Great! P.M. me with your address, I need a set of 18" for 10" wheels. Medium compound. Which tread pattern are they?

I'd like a set of Hoosiers for $30 (each) as well. I need 20 x 9". Let me know via PM.

Thanks!

Hoosier Daddy??

Speedbump has a set in the garage. He should mount them up on the Conversion....that would be pretty sweet.

I agree. The track at haspin needs bald tires.

I may look around here for some turf savers. If I find nothing...I'll be the guy with the "will work for flat track tires" sign around my neck.

Thanks everyone in advance. June is still a way off...my wife did say "If that's what you need, go ahead and get them" I just don't know what exactly I need yet. :(

Rhuel, if you get a set of flat-track tires, you can put them to good use in Ohio!

Just landed in Pittsburgh, flight in from local airport was less than calm. I got to put the "doggie bag" to use. 1 minute before we landed. Couldn't hold it back. Next stop, Ft. Lauderdale.

Any trikers from around Ft. Lauderdale...beside the obvious "Mike Ft. Laud"

things got worse.

The second flight was more miserable than the first. It was 2 hours of being so sick that I could have puked, but never did. I made it off the plane and in a sickened stupor, I went straight to the shuttle to the rental car place...withought going to baggage claim first. So, rental depot is 5 miles away, I'm stuck on a bus with no way off by time I realize what I had done, and no luggage. I go to the rental desk, tell the dude what's going on, he says pay for the car, get a shuttle back to the airport and go to baggage claim, get bag and come back and pickup rental. I do what he says and finally made it back to the hotel. I've not eaten since the two leftover pieces of pizza from lunch. I left whatever remained of the pizza in an express plane in a bag. I'm tired, nauseous and hungry all at the same time.

On a bright side...it's warm and the hotel doesnt suck. Smells kinda strange, but I can live with that.

Here's to tomorrow...

yeah what he said. find a set of Hoosier tri tracks. they are great for hard packed tracks.

they groove the turf tamers so you get better traction on loose soft tracks. you want them original no tread cut for hard packed ones.

Ok, to cure everyones curiosity, they are used. Hoosiers dont come in a 18" 20" and 22's I have 61's 62's and maby some 63's or 59's. I think when i compared them to my turf tamers the 59's where about 18's and 62 was about a 19. Pm me if you want them and ill get you more information.
