Looking for a locknut to fit the oldschool Tecate. After just about every ride mine is loose and I'm not happy having to crank that thing down all the time. Anyone use an aftermarket locknut for another ATV on their Tecate?
If not, how should I go about making one from the original locknut? I was thinking about drilling and tapping a 1/4 inch hole in the locknut that I could put a bolt in to cinch down on the axle to keep the locknut in place.

have you tried loc-tite and electrical shrink wrap?
loc-tite will hold the threads, the shrink wrap will act as a secondary buffer and will protect the threads from dirt.

Teflon tape is all I have at the moment. So I tape the threads and put locktite on the nuts? lol I'll give it a go.

put the loc-tite on the threads and then put the 2 nuts:lol: (sorry) on the axle and tighten them to spec. I wouldnt use teflon tape. get either electrical tape or duct tape if you use tape, tape over the axle nuts and the threads. shrink wrap can be found at most electrical stores anywhere in the world. not very expensive either, may be a dollar a foot. cut off what ya need, slide it over the axle nuts and the threads and put heat to it and watch it shrink up and hold tight to the axle. no damage or stick residue left behind. the only problem with shrink wrap is you have to cut it off and it cant be re-used.
