alright guys , anybody from upstate ny here, and if so where are you riding at? i am from the saratoga area, and this i am looking for some new riding spots for me me and my brother. it seems like everythign around me is getting closed up. this past weekend alone two of our favorite ride spots got brand spankin new posted signs all around them. i hate this, all the good riding spots are being posted, no trespassing. i dont wanna be a rebel and go ride on posted property now with the new laws, you get caught and they take your bike and its a nice hefty fine and possible year in the clink. new york sucks, all us riders here in ny need do something about this. what makes it worse ever trail around me that goes over state property now has "NO ATV'S" signs put up by the department of conservation. what can be done about this? and does any one have any place around the eastern part of new york where you can go and ride and enjoy yourself? and with out having to be registered and insured. two of my bikes are registered but my trike isnt...yet. lol.

Thats why I am selling out and switching to motocross bikes. I live in Cortland and I cant even think of one place to ride atv's. There are plents of moto-x tracks around and most of them dont allow atv's.I am talking about private tracks and not AMA tracks. I have run in to the same problem, all places to ride you cant do it anymore.Whatever you want to do to have fun they seem to want to shut you down.
My neice lives in Saratoga. I am in Oswego, just north of Syracuse. I know a ton of trails around here, we ride all the time. Try http://www.nyriders.com/ Its a small NY site that holds alot of great rides. I have met and ridden w/ alot of the regulars.

Come up to North of Syracuse and ride all day. Theres alot of trails and its some sweet riding. If you got a Quad the go up to the Tug Hill and get a Trail Pass. Theres over 700 miles of trails up there.:w00t: according to my Cheeesy map.
I want to go to Mik6's place and ride the dunes.:beer

Nope just grab a ride drive for 1 hr and we'll rida all day. I took some guys from here to the North Shore trail in Nov-Dec. We had a good time and put in a full day. The Trail Actually runs East-West and just the Rail bed trail is about 60 miles from Fulton NY east to the End of Oneida Lake. Then it goes north and I hear from Rochester to Utica somehow. I got me a new 4x4 Quad so I will just have to explore a bit. Any fellow Explorers want to go.
It will be better this summer because I will know all the Trails and new Trails. I didnt ride them for several years and when we went through an important Trail there was Barbed Wire Accross the woods.
We ended up going back 10 miles and North 3 miles just to get to the other side of that idiots Property. Damn trails been there forever and he just cuts it off with Trees and then The Wire which pissed me off. Anyway we will skip that trail and loop North on another. Plan on an all day ride, maybe 100 miles:w00t:
I hope to be able to ride from Syracuse to my Camp up Past Croghan which must be well over 100 miles of riding. Ive talked to Snowmobilers that make this trip alot from around here to Lake George and the Tug Hill. Ive just never had a ride that could go through anything before.

i live about 20 minutes south of lake george, between exits 15 and 16 on the northway (interstate 87 north). would love to be able to ride from there to utica and tug hill, make a weekend of it. put the tents and sleeping bags on the bikes and ride. if anyones familiar witht the area, i was riding between exits 11 and 12 today, nothing spectacular, just a nice ravine with soome awesome trails to ride, at one point we were riding basically 20 feet from the shoulder of the highway, was pretty awesome to open it up when i was going with the flow of the traffic, i was staying right with the cars and trucks. even got a few honks. lol. plus we got a chance to do some nice berms under a bridge on the embankments, pretty weird sounding when traffic is going over head. definately going to go back again, will take some pics next time, maybe some video.

western steuben county has lots of riding areas. there is also a small town that has opened all the secondary roads for ATV use if they are registered and insured.
BTW did you know they raised the price of registering ATV's here...
