Well we should have another ugly trike contest.... I was given this KLT 200 today. lol I guess I should of charged 25 bucks to haul it off... I've been farting with it... I guess the fuel pump is dead... I wanted to get it running but I can only get it to turn over if I jump the solinoid... my darn tester is not working so I just kinda gave up on it... Does anyone actually own one of these? it looks to me to have a clutch so I figured it might be kinda fun...

Dave, what is it you need to know about I kinda like those and like rebuilding them. It's a key+ starter button start, if the kill switch is shorted you can get it to turn over from the selonoid but it will never start, if the fuel pump isn't working look for the fuse, in a holder above and in front of the battery.

Alright that helps... The key is missing.... Its kinda a mess...I asuming they bypassed it, but there are unhooked wires everywhere on this thing, I've pluged everyting back in that looked obvious, but I still have a couple dead ends. there's a white wire up by the thiples thats hot that I have no clue where that goes... there must have been a switch there at one time... can you tell me which wires go to your ignition switch?

Wow man. LOL! It would probably be easier to tear the whole thing apart and then put it back together the right way. It looks pretty messed up as it sits.

You can start them in any gear, so you dont need to worry about the neutral switch cutting the spark. What they do have is a nest of wires behind the neck of the frame, In here is where the fuel pump was disabled on the KLT I worked on.

There pretty good fun actually. And the diff really makes them great for working.

I just got it running!!! lol And it sounds good also.... No smoke it sits there and idles.... Right ON!!!! Now I need to clean up that squirls nest.... and hope the pump works... I might have to rig up a lawnmower gas tank to it... How does it compare to the Honda 200s? It does have a clutch correct? thanks guys...

Way more power (torque) than a Honda 200, not quite as fast, but tonnes of grunt on the bottom
Make sure the oil pump is working, if that 84 has a weakness its a crappy oil pump, and that bearing cam is about 175 bucks.

Wow... the sucker is a torque monster... lol I took it for a rip up the street... YIKES!!! Note to self.... Lube throttle cable.... I bolted up a tecate front tire, the offset is a little off but it rolls... lol I'll have to drum up another front tire for it. I asked my girls if they wanted to take it to the beach with us Wedensday and I got a loud Nooooooooooo!!!!!!! :TrikesOwn

What year is it? The spec's page says that an '84 KLT 200 takes 1.5 qts.
If its a different year, check out the specs page:

I have an 81 KLT200, and as far as 3 wheelers go it's the best I'ver ever owned (ONLY one I've ever owned ROFL)...was gonna do the work on mine myself, think I'm gonna let someone with experience do it, too afraid of breaking it worse....fun trikes tho :)

Hi I own a klt 250 but after about two weeks it went on fire (dodgy wiring I think). They are great fun and have plenty of power. Yours seems to be a better spec than mine as mine has no suspension. I'll try to get a photo on tomorrow.
