Supply and demand as well as area and reliability all factor in to the avergae resale cost. Buying any new machine that is still in production and you will get resale values like that. Look at the new TRX and YFZ. They tank over 2g's in a year and then drop even faster after the first year.

Its true, You can find 2000 DS650's for 2 grand easy. Their prices drop simply because they are no longer in demand because there are bigger and better machines on the market nowadays. Plus they are early production models and have since been upgraded and updated to fit peoples needs and any flaws they originally had. Simply taking a machine off of the showroom floor drops its resale price by atleast 500 bucks. Its just the way it is.

Do you have proof of this? I know 3 people with DS650's and none of them have break downs. The only problem that I know any of them have had is a chain roller shedding its rubber. All of them think the DS is the best quad ever, but all of them are also big guys. I have ridden them and I don't like the DS, it is to big of a machien for me.

I think they would be a sweet dune bike. The new ones have reverse. I think that would be a huge improvement there.
How cheap can you really get them? The older one's I mean.
