Ok there not that old, there 2003 models that are still on the showroom floor. I was in there today and noticed them and has got me thinking about bringing one home but there is no way I am going to pay what they have hanging on there tags. I did a little research and here's what I have come up with
2003 Kawasaki KDX 200

There price 3800
Used retail 2695
trade in 1820
2006 cost new (for a 2006 model) 4199

2003 Kawasaki KLX 400

There price 4900
Used retail 3210
Trade in 2185
2006 cost new (KLX 400 is no longer availible so I am using the KLX 300's cost) 4949

Ok, I prefer the little 200 because power is a little snappier than the 4-stroke and it weighs less and its just eaiser to toss around. I am not ruling the 400 out though. I might still try to get it instead because it has electric start and I am getting lazy these days lol. What do you think I should offer this dealer for either of these machine's? There's no way I am giving what they are asking when I can go to a differnt dealer and get the same bike for the same price of 200 bucks more. 3 years has to knock off some money. I was thinking 3200 for the KDX 200 and 3900 for the KLX 400.

I do like those KLXs, though. Street legal, and pretty damn powerful. I used to ride my buddy's KLX 650.....WOW-- that thing was a monster! I'd say that if you picked either one up slightly under used retail, you'd be good. All depends on what you want, though.:beer

I think you are way off on the KLX400 new price estimate. The Suzuki DR-Z400S is $5599 new, and the KLX was nothing more than a green version. Personally, I would go with the 400 because there are lots of parts for them and you can just roll up to a gas station, fill up, and roll out.
