86 trx250r What are known problems?

I'm looking at a 86 trx250r. What are the problem areas to look for? It is bone stock and the price is really good. Almost too good so I'm expecting it to have issues possibly. I'd like to know what to look for when I get there. Don't worry, I'm not converting. Ive still got my 85 250r. Wife needs the extra wheel and I'd like a bike I can play on also.

the only thing ive seen is on the 86 models, the frames crack at the bottom motor mounts, 87 up dont do this

yes they do. they also crack and break in the upper frame tubes above the shocks. my 89' 250R was cracked in all places,and frigin bent too. i straightend and welded everything and re-enforced the frame tubes a long time ago and everything is still fine. i use to race MX with it too. the swingarms also break/crack where the swingarm bolt goes through.thats why i rock a nice laeger swingarm now.

mine was broke real bad rite below where the swing arm bolts go threw. the holes get egged out and the swingarm moves front and brakes the engine cases. they crack by where the steering stem attaches up top also.

mine was broken like 2strokes4life said. the rear seat mount bracket on the frame cracks also.

All of the frames crack if ridden really hard (not just Hondas). If you get a stock frame and will be hitting a lot of big jumps you will need to add a gusset kit to the frame.

Some gusset points:
swingarm bolt area
lower rear subframe to mainframe area
steering stem mount area
rear lower engine mount
upper shock mount
