This is one of my projects I'm working on at the moment. I can show pics of this one lol. I've got a little over a month to get this one finished before the first race. I started with a different frame I've had for a while now. Its an 87 modified to accept an 88/89 swingarm. Powdered it silver vein. Most everything else is powdered a medium gloss black or red except for a few pieces. I have almost everything ready for this one. My motor is still out getting bored, decked and ported. I'm still waiting on my shocks so I will install the originals until they show up so I can get it in rolling form by the end of the weekend. I took one of my stock 88 swingarms and had it shortened by hornetpowersports here on the site, awsome work I must say and very quick turnaround. If I remember correctly 1 5/8" shorter than stock. I'm installing +2 +1 a-arms for a wider stance and the +1 forward will give me the 88/89 frame geometry. +4 axle for the rear. Heres a few pics before assembly.

Its a roller now. 49" wide at the rear, 49 1/2" at the front. Hipers installed in the rear. I installed my radials up front for now so I could determine what size hiper wheels I needed to order for the front. Waiting on a few more parts to show up that I ordered this weekend.

I'm digging it! Those 20" rears?

19" on a 9"wheel. Fronts will also be 19" on 10". Just got my ac nerfs, lsr stem and my shocks should be here early this week. I found some triple rate works with rezzy's I'm going to have shortened as soon as they show up. Installed new +2 stainless tir rods and still need to adjust toe. This is the first quad I've built from the ground up in many years, forgot how much work goes into these things. I'm trying to do this one on a budget so almost everything is used. The R's arn't worth what they used to be so I'm not going to sink crazy money into this one. I've traded alot of stuff here and there to get what I needed for this one. Some things I am going to have to buy new with time running out but finding used is far cheaper.

Very cool. I wish I had the money(and patience) to build a quad from the frame up.

Heres their website http://www.bobsfamilyraceway.com/main.htm

Its probably a couple hours from you at most. mxr4 tires work the best out there, its a heavy clay but it gets watered alot. Test and tune is this Sunday if you want to come up and try out the track. It's horse shoe shaped so a swaybar is not really needed. I ran with and without and didn't notice any difference. Everyone races together, 250r's, 450's, raptors, basically run whatever you have. Theres usually between 6 and 10 guys that race but we would like to see more show up.

Let me know about your local track, I'm looking for more tracks to race at around MI. Also is yours a regular tt, oval type? What tires work best? They have a test and tune day before racing starts? I can gather a few people to come over that way.

Jim (x-system), how is your R coming along? Are you ready yet? A little over a week before the first race.

I just found out about onstead yesterday. Might have to check it out this year.

I guess theres atv flattrack racing at the I-96 speedway also. http://www.i96speedway.com/events.asp
Here is an e-mail that I recieved after asking some questions.

First the track is
a 1/4 mile plus we are also
building at TT track. Tires are Holeshots, razors and Hoosiers. It
cost $25.00 to race and covers
your insurance. We don't have a payout set until we see what we get
for a response on it. You
will have heats to set you up for your feature. Hot laps start at 6:30
p.m. I would be here by
5:30 or so.

My bike is ready but its still got my spare motor in it. I'm still waiting on some parts so I've got the old stuf on for now. I'm not going to pull the spare motor out until I get my other one back. I actually have alot of work left to do once the other parts show up so I will be busy all week I imagine. Hopefully I get my other motor back in time to break it in before Sunday.

I didn't go out to practice today, way to much rain this week and I bet that track was garbage. I havn't heard if anyone else went out to practice or not yet.

I96 only shows the quad wars race from what I see, I will be attending that one for sure, night races should be a blast. If I get time I will call and see what they are going to have for a schedual for quads.

I will also be trying to get down by adam for some practice and some racing, hopefully their first race depending on what I will have to do for setup down there.

I'll have finished pics later this week, before and after, once all my parts show up.

For anyone reading, Witti and I race against each other. He runs a suk 400 worked over. Everyone that runs out there is a good guy and almost all of them will do whatever it takes to keep everyone running and racing, all the regs anyway.

Going by there website it was rained out. They said the first race is still on. I still think its going to be wet and nasty this sunday.

So far its Me on the Z, my brother on his banshee, and Travis on his craptor. I dont think James will have his engine done on his R in time.

I-96 shows quad racing on May 20, june 3, Aug 5, and Quadwars on July 14 & 15.

hey, sorry i havent checked this post in a wile.

the onstead track dosnt require anything but a teather and nerfs on the quads. you can run stock class. but it is seperated into classes, and you are required to have numbers.

this will be my first year racing it. but i was up last year with my friends watching a few of my friends ride. and they have some pro riders from the michigan area that ride out there. if you can get Hoosiers you can run them. and if you have a sway bar, it helps.

i dont know how you would classify the track, it has a couple hair pins, sweeping corners, and rollers in it, so its not an oval its a complicated track. but it looks like a blast. ive actualy got a practice track built in my property. and have been tuning in my 400ex for the past month, getting it ready. racing dosnt start till july in onstead.

but racing up there is pretty intense, lots of competition. my buddy is following the national circuit this year and is racing onstead also, if that give you an idea of the type of people out there. but it is just a good time.

it costs $35 a day to race i believe.

let me know if your interested though, we could possibly set up a time to practice out on my track if your willing to make the drive out here. i could set up some riders to come out and give you a little competition.

49229 is my zip to give you an idea of where im located.

Finished it up the night before the first race. My motor was over a week late so I had to break it in on saturday night and sunday morning before the race. My pipe showed up at the last minute as well. Needless to say a bolt here and there made it imposible for me to finish the race. I did get a few hot laps in and it seems to run alot better than the PT motor I had in it last year but the next couple races will tell alot more. I do have to make a couple changes to it. I'm taking the triple rates off and replacing them with shortened triple rates w/o rezzy's.

A special thanks goes out to Moshman ( Cosmic Quads) They did my seat in record time, Thanks alot Rob and wifey :beer

That is one bad ass looking 250r! What is TT racing like? Is it like a mix of flat track and MX? Post up how you do this year.

Its almost like harescrambles but theres no trees to jump out in front of you. Tracks are usually oval with no jumps and usually pretty smooth. The track we normally run at is not like that at all, its torn up clay where every corner is different which makes you change up your speed. Heres one of the few action shots we got Sunday.

I hope so lol. Really all I want is to be able to keep up and mix it up with everyone out front. Bob took 3 pics, that one posted and one at the start of the second race. He snapped to soon and didn't get the holeshot though. He also had it zoomed in to far so he only got 3 of the bikes and part of yours. The third pic was of nothing but dust. He's not leading the camera enuff to make up for the delay it has.
