Does anyone have any thoughts or have tried to mount up a Honda outboard motor tach to their three wheeler? I figure as long as its for a single cylinder motor it should work should'nt it?

I am not very confortable with wiring unless its a direct plug in and do not like the idea of frying one of my 350x's.... But the idea is good if we could figure out how to wire it up safely....

John, didn't you hook up an aftermarket motorcycle tach? How did that hook up?

Blaze ,,,, I bought one that looks exactly like that one and it didn't read correct on my 350x. Only half rpm at idle and fell off worse fromn there once rev'd. I checked back with the seller and he said that particular tach I had got off of him was for a 3 cyl. honda outboard and most likely as to why it wasn't going to work for my apllication.
I got it cheap enough so no problem on my end as far as I am concerned.
I will try to mount up on the P-3 and see how it acts on a true 2 stroke.
Darn fine looking honda tach's though ,,,, if it works on the P-3 ,,, defintly gotta loose the Honda logo :)

John, I need to get you a old school OEM Polaris Tach like I got. Heck, I need to find me a few more as well. lol

Nope that tach won't work on a 2 stroke either ...i bought one about a year ago .. can't get it to read right on anything 2 or 4 strokes.....and John's right it from a 3cylinder out board........

This is what I want to try and hook up, it is from a Honda Magna V4 four stroke. I will probably try it on my friends 200s since the 200x is in pieces and the 200E has a lot more wires. I just don’t want to blow the tach.

I tried one of those too ,,,, didn't work.
Sold it on the auction site and made a few bucks off of it.
But ,,,, those are a fine looking tachs also !
john
Well at least i bought it for cheap.:(
There has to be something out there that looks good, will work, and doesn't cost a ton.
