Hello. I am in the process of considering several options of what I should or shouldn't use for my repair of an 80 YT 125. It needs a new piston.
OEM kits are ridiculously expensive and are difficult to locate. I found some Wiseco kits on eBay, for like $85, but then I still would have to buy a top end gasket set. I am sort of on a tight budget as well.
Just by out of curiousity I found a .pdf catalog of Wiseco pistons, I also noticed that the pistons for 1976 - 1989 Yamaha YZ 125s had the same bore and stroke, and were used in engines with equal displacements of YT 125s. Also the YZ pistons are like $30 cheaper too...
I basically wanted to know if anyone had ever considered this as a feasible solution, or if this is not a valid method to solve my problem.
Thanks,
Robert Swinderman
