Just got the motor back together and is set up all correctly. Cannot pull start it. Had trash in the carb but it would run if tow started. Cleaned out the trash now it will not start even if towed. Carb is set per manual. Spark is good. Timing is good, set as per manual.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Possibly an intermittant problem on the CDI? Any help is most appreciated.

start with the basics...you have spark...now check for compression and fuel.
Take the carb apart and make sure fuel flows out of the needle seat. If it does then you have fuel to the carb, then check your jets. It doesnt take much to clog them up.
If the carb checks out ok, then check your compression. If thats ok then it has to be a spark problem

Fresh top end, all timing is correct, goos spark and carb is set to factory specs with a fresh rebuild.

We tried to start it using the recoil starter but it will not start. It did start by towing it with my Rancher. Then almost had it to where it would idle good by adjusting the air/fuel screw. We then surmised that there was maybe trash in the carb, so it was taken apart and cleaned (yes the pilot jet was plugged up). Once the carb was thoroughly cleaned, we attempted to start it. We first checked spark and we had spark. We tried to use the recoil starter, and it wouldn't hit a lick. We then tried to tow start it with my Rancher and still nothing. I guess it may be a lost cause. If it won't start after more trys I am going to junk this POS! The motor has just been rebuilt so it will go on EBAY and it is in great shape. I am so aggrivated with this little POS. It has spark, it is gettting fuel as evidenced by the plug being wet. It just will not start. It has fresh UNI filter. The stator has been cleaned and checked and it is in good shape. I tell you it is almost pointless trying to get this old POS working.
It was fun to ride when it did start, but it will be totally worthless to me if I cannot walk to the shop and pull the recoil start and have it fire up. I have no use for stuff that doesn't work like it is supposed to. My 2 250Rs fir up on first or second kick. This POS should start on atleast 3 or 4 pulls!

Take the carb slide out, pull the spring out, gently push up on the needle and there will be a *Edited* shaped spring that comes out with the needle *****pay attention to how it comes apart**** The c ring on the needle should be in the needle, if it isnt move it to the middle notch. If it is, move it up a notch and try it. Its either getting too much fuel or two little. Allso try turning in the idle screw.

When I was rebuiding my 185s carb it was so picky... little air screw adjustments would cause it not to start at all.. found that I was fouling the plugs while adjusting the carb... went a got a handful of champion plugs and would swap them out like they were free.. It is funny I would take a relatively new plug out of the 185 and pop it in the 200M and the M wouldn't fire. Tuning the carb I have found is rough on plugs... just an idea.. you'll get it... I know it is a pain, my 185 was... and it sure isn't fun pulling a cord that much!!!
