Hi all,

I am going to have to rebuild a set of 1984 Big Red forks. Anybody ever rebuild a set of these? I hear that they are problematic, and can kind of see why, with the fork cylinder being one piece with the triples. I was looking to fit a 1985 Big Red front end on, but it would be too much cutting and welding and retro fitting. The frame neck is 1.5" linger on the 84 than the 85. I see that most of the parts as far as bushings and seals are still available from Honda. Just looking for some tips and would like to hear from someone who has done this before.

Thanks

PS - Dirtface: it is the frame neck that was bent!!! how that ever hapened is beyond me, but the forks are as straight as an arrow. Must be a differnet 84 front end on there. Also, who ever put the new front end on it did away with the stem bearings (top and bottom) and there are brass or copper bushings in there.......seems to be an OK setup, needs some grease though.

I would definately say if the neck is bent and the forks have been changed, that bike definately took a very nasty spill at one time. Just by looking at it you can tell it wasn't beat.
