Well we picked up another 230. Not to sure of the motor if it’s a runner or not. The side cover and clutch was removed when we picked it up. I pulled the clutch from a parts motor but still need the oil filter and cover before we try and start it. I think we are going to pull start it because it just doesn’t seem to have much compression. I hope that it is from sitting for some time with out any oil in it. Maybe it’s a timing issue. I need to get it to spark also. Changed the cdi and the coil with no luck going to change the stator to see if that will work. Anyone know of anything else that would prevent it from getting spark?

well in mine I think it was the stator, or the ign. coil, I replaced both and now got spark, I have the other stator if you want it..

Hey guys, whats up?
I just got a 230s myself, and am having trouble getting it started. It started and ran before I got it, but when I got it home I couldn't get it started.
Early in the day I pulled the spatk plug out and made sure I was getting spark, and it was. But when I changed the plug later, I wasn't getting any spark. The wiring on it looks kinda rigged up, so it could be a short, but I don't know where to start looking.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

That dosent look like a bad haul Big D. For some reason, it seems like when you see LT230's and 250's, they are really beat and negelected ..... but somehow still running. It's like they were the whooped dog of the ATV world.

Ya they are like the tractors of the atvs. It sat for some time then it became a donor for the lt250r and another lt230. Over time it regained it's parts back and is just sitting out in the back yard waiting to be done over. Here is a pic of one of the other one's that we did. It has a 86 200x motor in it. Might just do that to this one. I have another 86 200x motor that runs good.

I had this one given to me, guy says it runs but has engine noise... Are these good for a not so experienced 16 year old, or are they to fast.

being a not so experinced 16yr old it shouldnt be a problem at all. i started riding last year on a 350x and this year i got a lt250r. if anything he will be bored of it in no time.
