Question!! I am going to look at a 200 Yamaha next weekend and would like some imput on it... Here is what I know about the machine (it's priced right )

It is shaft drive -

It is 200cc - bored .20 over with a wiesco piston and carb kit in it -

It has electric start

It has been in the guy's garage for a couple of years and is in great shape except that the timing is out of sync...

My question is this... Is this an 85 Yamahauler? I looked on the specs and that is the only one with shaft drive that I could see... But the guy thought it was newer than an 85.

How hard is it to get the timing straightened out?

Thanks for any help I can get!!

If it's got the Shaft drive, it is the "Yamahauler" version. I have one too, except for mines an 83 YTM200EK. The 85 is called a YTM200ERN. How much is the guy asking for it? And as far as timing, I don't understand crap about what the manual is telling me how to time it. If you like I could type it up for you though.

Timing shouldnt be too hard to work on. If you have the manual, It helps a lot.

The guy wants $400 for it - he said it has tons of grunt in the low end. It belongs to his brother in law who bought it several years ago for $400 and put quite a bit of $$ into it with a rebuild and new tires ect. Then he just stashed it into the corner of his garage because he was too busy to ride. Where can I get a manuel for it (when I find out the exact year and model)?

When you go to look at it, search around the frame for any stickers or labels that might tell the year and model. If you don't find that look for a VIN#

almost any yamaha dealer could get you a manual for that trike, most of the manuals cover more than one type of trike so they come in very handy.

good luck

If you get me the VIN# I can tell you what year and model you have.

Well crap

I went to the guy yesterday afternoon and told him I had the $$ in hand and he said that his brother-in-law sold it to his neighbor for only $300!!!!

He said that I was supposed to get first dibs but his idiot inlaw didn't want to mess with moving it. For $400 (let alone $300) I would have driven across town to pick it up!!!!

Anyway - - Thanks guys for all the cool info and keep an eye out for me because I will get mine yet!!!! I'm off to surf E-bay for a nice ride!
